good to catch up with everyone there, had a great time.
Good to see Jeff, Wayne, Steve and everyone running, and good to meet Aaron, Dave, Craig & the rest of the crew.
Should have some footage from the little camera mounted on the Golf shortly, we were pretty happy getting most laps in the 54 second mark & then
down into the 51 second mark before the engine mount called it a day

That's two BBQs Wayne had to attend to in the same event. First the canteen as assistant cook, and then the Notch roast!

jeff was driving and glenn torrens shotgun............
wow i though the fire was finished when i pulled the battery switch, the window net and was dragging Jeff out by his pony tail........Glenn got out rather rapidly under his own steam which then put
Jeff as my priority..........yes i at first thought it was coolant too until the smell hit us...........we had had fuel delivery issues all weekend so
a missfire and smell (breather issues previously) didn't ring any major alarm bells in Jeffs mind
thanx again Wayne Penrose, Jeff reckons he now understands why "ledgend" is printed accross your oval's wing, saying "it's for ledgendary fire
extinguishing" and he also praises and thanks you for your quick actions............the only place i knew there was an extinguisher close by was in
the notch and i wasn't going back there in a hurry..............i'm in the foreground eyeing of Guy Hardings golf about to raid it, having realized
mine was at the top of the hill, when i heard Wayne and the other guy there setting the extinguishers off...........i was just stoked i had my mates
out of the car at that point

yes Guy, great pics there for sure...........you certainly can't say we were not pushing the adhesion limits and beyond! (pages 5 6 7)
all that drama left me back in the "spare" race car.........................just took all my travelling tools and kiddie gear out and drove it onto the track. i haven't touched it since the pre dyno day tune up.
i think i was on the track within half an hour of the BBQ
it felt as slow as a wet week in there after the notch. some issues that came about at Oran park returned with flooding of the engine in the
corners...........so that kept me from creating oversteer out of each
corner, o well still fun

I have some video footage of the notch going around the track too, but off to work now. so i will put them up tomorrow.
What we saw of what happened to the notch was like this.
It came out of the long sweeper after the finish line and stated to miss fire, going through the rest of the track it looked like a water line was
leaking or something.
Then as it came through the pits the entire boot just gushed out liquid then Boom.

Hi all , I havent been on line for months but did find the time to prepare the sports sedan for Valla 08' and enjoy the 2 days of racing .
It wasnt without a few minor hiccups though , with a beetle oiling the track for me as I proceeded around the track on my 3rd run and I very
competantly putting the sports sedan head on into the tyre wall at the start/finish line and giving our flag marshall a real scare .
Pics follow of a very bent sports sedan .
It took myself , apprentice Ben and best mate Chris about an hour and a half to have it all repaired and ready to race the next day .
As for the fire in the pits , it is no secret that mr unwin and myself dont see eye to eye , and havent done for years . All that aside , I would
never let another persons pride and joy burn to the ground , no matter who they were or what they had done in the past . In a dangerous situation like
this survival instincts just kick in and you react the best way possible to protect all those around . I guess those 3 days a week at the gym , run
and ride 12ks each sunday , and loss of 8 kilos really did help !!
Thanks to all who organised and ran such a good event , especially Luke Pell , and gave us the opportunity to have 2 days of enjoyment and
entertainment .

Hi all, I have just arrived home (Tues 9pm) after Valla and two days workig in the region, I must say a big thanks (first of all) to the dudes on the
extinguishers as I was the passenger in the T3WRX that was torched.
Jeff offered to take me for a run but we could smell fuel for half the lap so we limped it back to the pits as that's where the extinguishers are!
BOOM! Needless to say, I took a quick look at where the flames were (right THERE!) and got out REAL quick. I looked around and saw Jeff still in the
car and snuck back to kick my door shut. You can see me in the blue helmet far left. F---ing not much fun..
But running my 'wrecking yard racer' 1968 Beetle was GREAT fun! Built on a budget (starting with a $275 shell/chassis and $100 engine, NOTHING on
the car cost more than $300, except for the recoed heads and my own big brakes), it ran hard all weekend (except for a carby problem that I fixed in
45 secs) and didn't put dust all over the track or spill oil anywhere
Secondly, big thanks to Luke Pell for running the days. Top work
EDIT: from reading above, it looks like I owe Penrose and Guy H for thier quick work on the big red bottles when the SupaNotch caught fire . Thanks
lads... And to you too Damo. beers all round
Pay your debts, CxxT
