Waiting for the carbs to come back fixed then bolt on go to dyno. check front brakes as I think one front caliper is sticking a tad.
apart from that change gearbox oil, check a few things and we are good to go.

Picked up Carbs today and late this arvo and tonight fitted them back onto the manifolds. New throttle linkage set up needed a few mods to suit the
dellorto's(actually for IDF's) so that you can access the idle jets without removing all the throttle linkages etc. did a dummy fit up and all is
good so hopefully tomorrow night I will get it all fitted up ready to go for a drive. Can't wait as I haven't driven it for well over a month
now....

Got it running today after a bit of stuffing around adapting the Empi linkage kit for IDF's to the Dellorto's. not quite the dream easy straight
swap I had imagined but hey it all works pretty damm good now!! After a flat battery and all the fuel in the tank evaporating(fogot to block off fuel
line damm it) it finally came to life. Only had a short amount of time to quickly fiddle with the idle and mixtures to get it a lil better but need to
set the accelerator pumps up as it is a bit hesitant on the progression from idle to main circuit. Will hopefully get to it sometime later in the week
as I have to go to Fraser Island for a family wedding for the next few days....

Well I kinda wasn't happy with the throttle linkage set up so ripped it off and started again and made a few adjustments as watching the Broncs get
pasted wasn't helping my mood. Pretty much got it sorted and tomorrow will go for a drive with a fully charged battery to do some more fiddling.
Might also try and replace the front gear shift bush as it fell out on the way to Warwick last year....

Big thanks to Leon and Andrew from Leon's Motors for their help and use of the dyno today. Sorted out the issue of not getting full throttle on one
carb, changed some jetting and adjusted the timing to have the bus running sweet!! A very enjoyable drive home!!
Ended up changing the air correctors, mains and idles but had to go back to original idles as mixtures went a bit too lean on cruising.
Air correctors - 215 down to 190
Mains - 160 down to 150
idles - 60(tried 55 but a bit on the lean side)
34mm vents
40mm Dellorto's.
For those who don't know what the engine is...
2.0L Type 4 with 370 000k's on it!
1.8L heads ported and flowed
hydraulic cam grind 30/70
1700 rockers
light flywheel
comp 7.4:1
custom exhaust system - mandrel bent tuned length
all internals balanced
40 mm Dellorto's on ported and flowed manifolds
Started off with 72hp and finished off with 79.3hp with a very nice smooth graph and ironed out a lot of little rough patches. Car is soo much nicer
to drive and throttle response is a lot crisper. Bring on Warwick I'm one step closer to being ready...
Will post up dyno sheet tonight.

Well it just wasn't my year at Warwick this year. After an easy preparation with time to spare and even going as far as getting the car on the dyno
it just didn't all plan out like I had hoped. Firstly the bakerlite block on the points that runs on the dizzy shaft decided to just about wear
itself away(brand new points for dyno) and close the points right up buring them big time. I managed to get another set and a big thanks to John
Richardson for loaning them to me till I got into town to replace them. That made the car better but top end 3rd gear from about 4500rpm onwards it
simply started to breakdown. I replaced a suspect looking fuel filter thanks to Aaron Roberts having one to try but alas it did little or nothing to
fix the problem. went back to the hotel saturday night thinking what it could be and then Westi suggested maybe the float levels were too low. Sunday
morning with his help we readjusted them and I managed to get 2 runs in before racing started. Car went slower lol but didn't breakdown yay! Now
obviously jetting was all wrong so tried a quick jet change which made it a lil better but not great.
I missed 1 round of racing but didn't really care to be honest as i was happy enough to watch Troy and the rest of the family doing really well. ran
a best of 11.60@55mph which is slower than last year so back to the dyno and before next year new CV's and perhaps a new gearbox as everything is
making lots of noises after some biggish rpm launches over the weekend(one was just over 5000rpm lol)
Might even have a new engine for next year who knows...

Got some goodies from the states this morning from Jake Raby.
105mm JE's with HPC coatings already done. rings and gudgeons with spiral locks included. Pistons have done a short amount of dyno time on a
development motor. I will prolly buy new rings once I get to that stage of the 2.7L build. Pistons weigh just under 500 grams with rings, gudgeons and
clips.

You are going to have fun fitting the rings and cylinders.
The pin and clips have to go in BEFORE the oil rings go on.
That is the support rail that is left behind in the oil ring groove.
It stops the normal oil ring's rail from getting caught in the gudgeon pin hole.

Only some of the rings are on the pistons. the rest are in the box. I will most likely buy new rings once assembly begins.
All good Dangerous I'm sure you will be able to sort it out when i drop it all off in pieces for you to assemble!!

I dont work on boat anchors.
Actually I HAVE done a few other types of motors
ranging from, Chev big and small-block, toyota diesel, and even a Brabham Coventry Climax,
so I guess a type 4 should be on my resume.

Finally got new seats ive had for nearly 2 years in today. Got some seats brand new still with the plastic on them from a 2010 VRX Lancer. Bit of
mucking around but once we nutted it all out in they went and what a difference to drive. They sit you a little bit higher than stock but they are soo
much more comfortable than stock seats that were half collapsed and extremely painful LOL. So much nicer to drive!!
Got some new rims off C240 Merc sedan with tyres and fitted them up as well. 16x7 with offset of 43 fit real nice!! Just need some lower profile tyres
for the front to get guard clearance.
