Ouch dude. Thats the one bad thing about bugs. Rear enders, the one crash that usually isnt your fault, can be the most expensive. You do the engine and the rear body work and it is big $$ to repair. At least it wasn't to much body damage. All repairable. Would have been spewin though

Sorry if you've already mentioned, but was that a towbar that did that damage to the bumper/rear?

dude stop making video's and hurry up and put that carb on!!! ;)

in regards to the air cleaner, its a shame you can;t run the ramflo as they do seem to flow a lot better than the flat top ones... maybe not for the tall ones with more stand off though...

$$$'s my friend... not much to go for the carb, just intake gaskets and boots/clamps and a linkage.

but i have to save the $$$$'s for the body work ($1500 apparently)

but i want to do the clutch at the same time... it will all be done in the space of a few weeks.... but i need to save and buy parts first. its lame.

Buy overseas man... $200 is rediculous! As a fellow uni student you can so stretch that elsewhere!

And clutch alighnment... i got hte tool. i used it.. and won't use it again till the next clutch disk in like 5 yrs to come. Feel free to borrow. Takes a second to stick in and sort out.

Its easy... its a plastic shaft thats a 'fake' gearbox input shaft.... puts the gear teeth of the clutch disk in alignment with the gland nut... so when you fit the engine back to the gearbox the input shaft goes all the way in easily with no complications...

then you just torque up the pressure plate on top. VOLLA!

You want me to come around on the holidays or sumfin? Extra set of hands for ya. :tu:

On the bright side its an opportunity to fit that removable apron!

(if i remember right you scored one already cut off?)

The pros would luv ya for the panel... make it the deal that they make it removable and same colour.

Thanks for the advice/offer Chris. I appreciate it.

Well, last night I snapped The handbrake cable in colonel (RHS..) and the drivers door is filling up with water, because the window seals are stuffed. Im concidering just putting him away in the garage for a couple of months, becuase I just can't afford to do anymore with the very very little cash that I'm trying to live on. On the plus side, all my assessment finishes this week (then the course is over!) and I will be looking for full time work, (it will be tough to find a place that will let me have as much time off as i am wanting - youth camps, nats trip in may, large christmas break next year, etc) so the fun begins. AS i just mentioned, I would really like to have colonel going strong (brakes, lowered, bodywork sorted) before I make the 2000km drive to sydney and back, so its going to take a fair bit to get it to that stage - hence why I'm going to keep him in the garage for a while, and not do a dodgy Job. But I will be asking for help outs early next year, as i want to do most of the stuff here at home, and not have to fork out for a workshop to do everything. Colonel will never run if my hands don't get dirty.

Don't worry mate, we will get it sorted.

Buy a cheap bulk buy of sausages and you could have a bbq to draw a massive vw crowd working on the car for a day.

would be able to have a full pit crew with all they guys you get along here.

I did think about this the other day, And I think I willl do one, I just neeed to get a few $$'s together for alll the parts I need. I figure with 3-4 people, i could get the brakes sorted and the car lowered, in a day. its just going to cost $300-500 in parts. Fun.

haha, xmas all over!
before you submit, email to mick motors..., copy that picture into an email message and ask if they can compete with that price.

he replied back quickly to me, and i saved $200 off the total cost when i spend half a g's worth just a month ago. [Primarily cause he matchesprices, and eliminated shipping]
He matched like 85% of the prices, and had 99% of all of it in stock.

No kidding though, it would be a wise move. and no waiting time for ya!
