Hi
I would also like to say how good the commentator was, it didn't matter if it was full on drag car or street car, he always sounded enthusiastic.

I was just stoked to get back home!
Awesome weekend, my first Warwick & won't be my last. Awesome cars, excellent people, lots of laughs (really hurt my fractured ribs all weekend)
& it was great to finally meet people that u have had contact with for years.
Standouts for me were Dave Butler, Wally Penboss, Rod Penrose, Fabes & the Olive green bug from Mick motors? They were so consistent all weekend
& nailed every run. Excellent skill & reliability.
I only had 3 runs I think, 8.8 @ 83mph , half a second slower but same mph, I don't know how that works. Just couldn't get traction in first &
second. 2.3 second 60ft.
After the first run Sunday morning it was hard to get 1st & 2nd gear, so I parked it. 10 minutes out of warwick 4th gear started making lost of
noises, but Colin & I pressed on to Tamworth. 4th gear noises started going away, stopped for petrol, no reverse gear! Got to Tamworth no
problem.
Left for the Central Coast early Monday morning, got just past Singleton, 4th gear went. Drove home on 3rd. Went from 70kph to 120kph, put it in
Nuetral & let it roll back to 70kph all the way home, over & over again. Quite tiring! Just over 1600k trip & fortunantly didn't need a
trailer. I gave my little bug a big hug when she got me home.
Next year CT & I plan to go a day earlier & race on the circuit on the Friday next to the drag strip, it looks awesome with a real
proffesional setup. If anyone else is interested they are more than welcome to join us.
Again, excellent weekend.
regards
Jak

Hi Jak
Thats bad luck, I was wondering if we were going to get home after David was doing burnouts with his bug before staging.
What are your plans for the gearbox now?

I have a new spare gearbox thats exactly the same as whats in it now, ( I had 2 built at the same time they were that cheap) single side plate with
Kombi gears. The gearbox has done over 65'000k's so I can't complain. it should be back on the road this week.

See Jak. I told you your car would make it!
I had my most fun drag race ever with Jon Kruger's oval. I'm not sure who reached the finish line first, but he broke-out less than I did. I'm
happy with 9.3 @73mph as a consolation prize. Not bad for my tranny-friendly launch-like-a-grandmother starting technique.
The top 8 were fantastic.
Well done Craig Hughes. Another fantastic event.

Hi all,
Well after a 17 and 1/2 hour drive we made it home all safe. It was a very disappointing weekend for us seeing as we had irrelevant teething problems
with the new set up. After a launch one of the tie rods wanted to pull the center out causing a violent shake in the wheel. The only thing that made
it all worth it it was the friendly people, meeting new people and putting names to faces. The VW action is always awesome to see and just the general
atmosphere of the VW drags was good to be a part of. It was a little warm for us though seeing as it is nice and hailing down here. For those that
didn't make it they missed out onl the nicest, fastest VW's in the country.
And once again Craig has done an A1 job!
Thanks Craig and helpers.

Loco Gringos from Melbourne got home safe and sound also about mid day yesterday.
Nick good to hear you guys arrived back safe too.
It was a fantastic weekend and we had mixed results with a broken car and a trophy (I will let someone else post this one)
Great event Craig, well run and the weather played the game too. Great to catch up with a few northerners and meet a few new peoples too.
We will be back for Warwick 2010 with a few more Loco Gringo VW's in tow

Did anyone get a pic of the one running across down the other end? Near where the fire truck was parked at the end of the concrete.
it ran across at the same time the other bounced up the track.
It hopped across just as the cars went past the finish line. :S

Got home safely to Vic. (not Mexico!.. feels feels more like Canada, 3deg overnight; hailing & almost snowing now) after a 2250 mile round trip
(most over 4-1/2days) in Ol' Yella, late last night. Spectating only. Went up via New England Highway: Dunnedoo (yes there was one), Muswellbrook,
Scone (didn't see any scones), Tamworth, Armidale, Tenterfield,... have never been in this area before but wonderful scenery, mountains, & lovely
towns.
Thanks Craig, I don't know how you do it all!... Is Portland "on" again for next year? Yes, the mind boggles at the length of your protuberance.
Good to meet / catch up with many people, and just to be near to the 'legends'. (Stood near to RodP, Dangerous, PeterP; and Ross & Houndog,
and many others - felt 'fast' just standing there!). Met/caught up with so many people, Peter, Aaron & family, Matt, Dave, Rod, Andrew, Barry,
Jon, and all the South Australians, et Al, et Al. And Conrgrats to Michael C., great stuff!
ACE 30 & 40 oils: specifically engineered for your Air Cooled VW
delivered (free del.) throughout Yarra Valley / Ranges, & Gippsland areas. Also ACE 20, 50 & 90.
FOR SALE: ACE 30, 40 etc. Oil formulations & Trade-names.

Hey All, I too would like to thank absolutely everyone involved in V.W. Warwick for another awesome weekend. The buggy ran sweet every run, couldn't
fault it, I think that dyno time at leon's really paid off. I even managed a 10.15 pass out of the little 1641 but sadly brokeout on a 10.20 dial in,
only to put my mate Mick 'aka 1916baja' into the vw special finals which he went on to win. Congrats Mick and all the other drivers for some of the
closest racing I have ever experienced!
Cheers Dave!
