Thanks Guys and gals, and Troy for the pic's.
I've been a little busy lately in the shed. It was time to fit bigger tyres, this ment moving the spring plates inboard 75mm and an entirely new air
bag
arrangement inboard of the chassie, modifying the trailing arms, brake lines, thottle cable, radiator pipes, barrel cooler pipes, 1 fuel pump, filter
and lines.
Oh the oil cooler lines and all the wiring that you forget thats under there.
So much work just for 50mm more tyre each side. The tyres are Micky Thompson ET Street radials 275x50x15, which measure 295mm o/a not like my old
235x60x15 that measure 235mm o/all.
I didn't think how good it would look with such big rubber, i was thinking more traction, more traction.
This brings wheelie bars to to mind. So i borrowed next doors to see where i could mount them.
They are just sitting there in the photo.
The exhaust has an electric butterfly mounted near the rear of the race pipe,(4''). The standard exhaust no longer goes forward around the
transmission
and back. Now is comes straight off the race pipe near the turbo using 3'', under the scatter shield (bellhousing) 90' in to a 20''x 11''x
6'' tri pass muffler
exit through 4'' tip. 800mm of pipe in total.
This means i have 2x 4'' exits and 1x 3'' wastgate exit. The ability to have full power without excessive back presure and only have to change
sparkplugs on race days.
Now i'm working on a new shifting system.
While Troy is moving house his lathe is being stored (used) in my shed. First job done, machine alternator pully central, second job?????

Thanks for the pics, the first two are of the alternator pully which never ran true. now the v groove is a bit deeper but now centre.
The other is of the gear shifter bushes and short shift modification for the new rod system, no more cables (yay!!!).

Well Bec and I were ment to be at a car show today for a sunday cruze and some dyno fun but,
I went out last night to check every thing was right. While under full throttle 3rd gear the boost went sky high!!!!! 20+psi
So i took some data the next run and wound the air reg down to 0 = 10pound (spring presure only).
Straight up again, and i couldn't back off quick enough, then it did two big back fires and stalled.
The problem with such a big turbo is when is comes on it does so, MEGA quick. This high boost causes high heat on these
tiny seals and they weaken, causing then to bend or break.
The fault was a rip in the wast gate, which controls turbo presure.

Sad to have to open it up. Looking at the wear it was not even 1/4 of its life.
This would be the cleanst engine i have pulled down yet.Every thing is just as it was 3 years ago. I will replace the corner and side seals with after
market ones, as there were only
mazda (i hate that word!!) items at the time of the build.
This means i will have (South Coast Rotary) SCR 3yr old apexes, new SCR side and corner seals. All with new factory springs.
All up $450

Yep all factory 20b parts, only the dowells apex seals, and balancing of the rotating assembly.
But, all the springs and inner, outer oil control rings are from 5 different rotary engins for different reasons.
This is the twin plate clutch, will try and grind it on the lath.

I've measured the notch and it fits with 100mm gap behind the front seats. (YOU CAN DO IT MAN!!!!)
