Hi
Old post but Ive solved the mystery with disappearing writing on the number plates.
I bought some NSW premium plates in black with silver writing, when you tilt them the writing disappears.
Apparently there was story on one of the current affairs hows on telly about this issue.

They are doing a huge blitz in the town near where I live.
I have been pulled over and breatho'd once and the police radar pointed at me few time. Funny thing is I recon in the last month I have only gone to
town half a dozen times and I would of seen the cops at least 3 times per visit if not hassled by them.
ridiculous ! got nothing better to do, why don't they sort out all the drugos around town?
wasting tax payers money and time.

Hi
I just had my new 1303 gone over by the RMS
I've driven the car 50 or 60ks unregistered when I had to get it checked by the RMS, 1st Silverwater and then Botany, never a problem, I was pulled
up by the Highway Patrol on the way home a few ks from my house after getting a blue slip.
I said to him I suppose you want to know why I have no number plates on the car, he said that and I wanted to have a look at it.
I explained that I had just been for a blue slip, when he saw my name on the documentation I showed him it turns out we knew each other 35 years ago
and he was a VW head back then, small world but I live in the biggest city in Australia, not as big as other cities in the world but still freaky.

i just use cruise control in almost every zone.Would get much more of a kick spending 300 on vw parts than giving to the police Academy. The new
corollas cruise is very user friendly. This red light camera is dangerous stuff too as now i often brake hard at red lights,it really hurts paying for
nothing, but the yuppy woman talking on here mobile up my rear better watch out

+1 its awful in the rain. I have attempted to stop when the yellow light come few times and failed to even slow down due the greasy Melbourne roads
when it rains, just had to make snap decision to absolutely floor it just getting through with lights turning red half way in. damn scary! been
lucky so far.
funny story, once I had these lights on Alexander parade go from green, yellow to red so fast, I slammed the brakes to maximum tire adhesion, tires
chirping over texture on the road and nose planting like no tomorrow, stopped just in time and the camera flashed a few times. Because of the speed I
was going so close the intersection the camera must of set off lol
and I know it was me that did it because there was no one in front and the next car behind was still a while back and hadn't even reached the
intersection yet when this all played out.
they do it on purpose and call it "safety" sound kinda ironic don't you think?

yep thats what I use. I made some electronic adaption for my cruise control to work with a manual transmission. the greatest think I discovered with a
manual transmission and have cruise control on is that the car cannot over run down hills and keep constant speed.

Just copped a speeding fine near cunnamulla (far south west queensland) , there is NOTHING out here except the odd emu/goat/pig but I was certainly
not a threat to anyones or our safety. I generally slow down a few k's when near towns but I got caught about 30km from town and they were in a white
landcruiser (most popular car out here) driving the other way and they said they got me on the radar miles away: 130 in a 100 zone, $366 later and a
carefully timed phonecall to my wife....... The crazy thing is that no-one sits on a hundred when it is a perfectly straight road in the middle of
nowhere when you have 900km to cover in normal working hours. The officer asked me if I had an excuse but my workmate wasn't having a baby so no
getting out of this one but its crazy to book people this far out I reckon

well I certainly don't go over regardless if there isn't anyone one for miles (used to, but don't anymore), I am just too paranoid they'll be
hiding in a tree or something, seen them hiding in bushes before.
only time I will go over is if I need to test the car out but I will run up and down a selected road and carefully check out no one is about and not
hidden cameras ( doubt it in a rural area) but just in case, then get someone to keep an eye out on the other end of the run and warn of coming cars.
Then go for it, but even this I don't feel comfortable with anymore, time to hit the race track I think.
but yeah I do think they are too excessive about it now, its just revenue raising

I heard the government were going to 'outsource' the speeding cameras so the police can do real police work... If this is true and a company will be
making money out of fining people as well as the government it will get a lot worse. But i guess at the end of the day if you don't speed it wont be
an issue.
The best place to get fined is Alice Street in Brisbane city, 40km zone yet everyone comes around the bend and hits 60km heading towards the freeway,
cops seem to be there every 2nd day lol.

don't forget about dodgy cameras though, I know first hand about that!
Anyone remember Eastlink Dandenong bypass camera? famous for fining random people giving fines which were all and only 108km.
even some police got fined this one

Damn thats pretty bad, is this the one you got done by? how far did you have to fight it?
I got a weird one a fair few years ago, something along the lines of 'more then 5km but less then 9km' over the limit, $110 fine. But it was on a
multi lane major road and they sent no picture. I didnt pay anything and never heard anything else about it.

speed cameras are already outsouced, seen plenty of them around and north of Newcastle over the last year or two

thats weird? thats you heard nothing of it? probably a scam?
I managed to delay mine a lot but it wasn't worth fighting for only $150, I couldn't afford to loose any days off work to take it to court.
its the only fine I had in my life so far. I thought something was wrong and I goodled the camera and no surprise found many pages with 100s of people
complaining about receiving a fine for doing exactly 108km/h on the same stretch of road 2 sets of cameras were going it.
there is even a facebook page for it. Its mentioned somewhere on this page

How can they fine anybody from these cameras if they are obviously faulty? You can see why people get so angry about it. They need to stop people
driving like maniacs, but cameras arent working by the look of it.
Remember when the old Police Commissioner got done by the one on the story bridge? lol unless you're in Brisbane you might not have heard though.

I have heard lots of cops being done by dodgy cameras, its more common then you think as highway patrol police are always driving back and forth on
there roads and the fact most police speed. Setting a good example
Had that happen today, police in a territory speeds past doing 100 in a 90 zone on the black forest road near woodend and the irony is this is one of
the biggest cop hot spots for booking people in Victoria.
