C'mon DB - just shut your roller doors, fire the Muffin Machine up and let it idle for a few minutes.
That'd be a pretty similar effect I'd think, right down to the stinging eyes !!!

I have one that Bec took with my phone, sorry no flat 4 noise, but still noise of high rpm.
Maybe some one can edit it with the batmobile sound

Gotta be impressed with the 1200 formula vee's 56hp,
Nicks type 3 with type 4 power,
and Frosty's stock valved 1776 with 40mm carbs.(aborted lean run!)
|
Just curious on the type 3. Is it definitely 2L? Most 914's were 1.7 or 1.8L. From memory 85hp is about stock for them isn't it?

I spoke with Nick(owner) on the day, and it has been rebuilt stock, except with the heads 'flowed',
but that is all, still stock valves and yes, 2lt.
By comparison, most Good stock Kombi type 4s are lucky to make 55hp, even with dual Weber or Dellorto carbs.
This was why I mentioned it.
Remember we are talking wheel power here.
Comparisons with some of the stock type 1 engines will see how good it really is.

Thanks Aaron, it sound pretty sweet to my ear, even though its not a Volksy engine.
...although that 1960's Batmobile sound is even better!

85rwhp for Nick's engine is great. 2 years ago (Dyno Mania) Tony's stock type 4 with 40 IDF's and a mild cam (semiBaja Kombi) had around 70, and my
old DC with low comp 914, 1970cc and K8 cam with EFI and ITB was 98rwhp.

My type 4 2.0l made just under 80hp. 7.4:1 comp, dellortos, 1800 heads ported, cam, light flywheel and exhaust. Engine is kinda tired with 376000odd
km on the clock so would make more when it was a lil newer!! I do plan on putting it back on the dyno as the jetting still isn't right.

Thanks Dangerous. There you go:

Sounds about stock to me
I very much doubt my stock 2L would make 55RWHP....

Wheel HP or flywheel HP? If flywheel, what formula was used for the calculation?
