^^^^^^^ a couple of months!!!! looks like years!!! yeah, a great place to leave a seat ... outside on the grass letting ants build nests in it, letting it rust away, letting a wasp nest in there...... ...it's all good bloke, nothing throws me anymore, not even smashing a brand new laminated front windscreen. I just go silent for 5 mins walk to my bar fridge and drink heavily. Then I move on

went and saw David the trimmer today, much better answer and more positive... $550 total but proll not before xmas... damn

its raining......

EDITAMONDO- where is the best place to pick up a linkage kit for my webers?......and no, I don't have the coin to buy gene berg linkage kit. I'm thinkin more like CB performance or bugpac...

grrrrrrrrrrrr

waiting on heads to arrive, it's now been 8 weeks to the day waiting for my heads to arrive. Not really happy with their turn around times.
Started the build on the donk, can't really go any further without heads so I'm sitting here waiting.... the ute is pretty much finished, just got the windscreen going on on Monday and i'll smash in the rear window Monday, treasure chest door goes on tomorrow, door cards go on Monday, dash is finally finished and all installed.

Mr Berry, do you think the gear stick is about 80mm too short?... I feel like I'm reaching down to shift.....

questions and help

Since it's been close to 12 years of not working around a bus I need some help with a few things....
> what does the vacuum hose connect to from the brake booster, do I need a valve connected to the hose?
> I got a 40 IDF weber setup so is it best to run a 009 dizzy with vacuum or not?
> What the hell is this set up? (see attachment)... and what does it do?..... the hoses were attached to the valve covers. Should I keep this setup or just plug the holes in the valve covers.

thanks in advance ..... Binner

Its a breather. 2 hoses go to your valve cocers and the other one goes to your oil filler neck!!!! or maybe into another hole in your valve cover, so any oil blown up there can drain back into the motor.

The brake booster normally connect to the manifold on a type 4 motor - but you are running a type1?? So - dont know

Is it dual or single Weber??
Cheap answer is yes - a 009

Reckon that is part of a breather set up for crank case pressure

Booster needs a check valve and is run to the inlet manifold. With your duals, I normally plumb to ALL manifold runners.
The breather should be used seeing you have it and are building a performance engine ie. better than stock, as said, 1 hose to oil filler/breather, the other 2 to valve covers, the most important rule during instal is not to have ANY dips in the pipes for oil to gather, all hoses must have fall back to engine.
009 will be fine with your dual carbs, good heads and exhaust.

^^^^ thanks for the fast response guys, appreciate it a lot. So am I now going to drill and tap into either manifold for the brake vacuum?... does it matter where the location is on the manifold? does it matter where the check valve is located?.. should it be up nearer the booster unit and not near the engine?

Matthew, can you explain more about "plumbing to all manifold runners" please?

thanks again in advance .....:spin:

edit.... just fitted up the webers with a CB performance update kit and jet doctors....

Ian, all runners means each cylinders manifold, so you need min. two but pref 4, manifold runners drilled and tapped, using a tee piece or 3, you can plumb from the check valve to all 4 inlet manifolds. No real special location, normally towards the top, just make sure all the pipe work fits where you plan to drill for the fittings. Preferebly the check valve goes near the engine, on the tranny side of the tinware.

Hope you have some velocity stacks to clamp those flimsy air filter bases down properly.

Yes, a valve is necessary, it's to always pull vac only so essentially a better vacuum is produced and also to protect the booster diaphram incase of engine backfire.
