Yep 135 main is what is recommended for a 40hp judson. Lots of info at the judson register Pete.
Also in the vintage speed section on the samba there is a lot on judsons.

If it's better hot, then it's not too rich. Sure it's not just the oil in the Judson burning off after sitting.

This thread has got me thinking about whether you could build a beetle for IPRA. As a general observation in IPRA there are quite a few small Japanese pre 1986 cars that have had a turbo engine installed. They are competitive and running at the pointy end of the IPRA series. They are light and their 2 litre engines are producing around 350 bhp. A lot of effort and money goes in to getting a car to this stage. Just curious does anyone think the same could be done with a beetle?

Are you thinking of going circuit (i.e. rubbing doors) or hill climbs and lap sprints?

I already do sprints and historics - but not in a beetle. Maybe in the next couple of years I will look at a bit of push and shove. The thing about the beetle is the knowledge base Whatever you want to do lots of others have already been there so it is a good car to at least consider.

You can be assured of one thing , your gunna spend a sh$t load of money getting 350 odd hp out of a vw and keeping it reliable in circut racing

doubt you would need 350 hp to keep up! the limiting factor for IPRA is tyres. Wally built a little turbo motor that made some good power, there is a thread on shop talk.

I agree 350 is abit excessive. Given the rules I think aerodynamics might be the real problem.
