Wonderful work Dave , glad to see you were able to start back on your heads. What kind of increase in torque and HP do you expect from this
combination as compared to what you have now, or are these for the bigger combo with BERTHA ? Mike

Plan is for these to be fitted to the current engine.
I have some new JE pistons that I ordered from Summit,
so they will need notches.
Pushrods will also have to be made, and probably tubes as well.
I am aiming for mid tens,
so I am not sure how much more power i will need, perhaps another 25?
The comp ratio I want is in the 15 area,
and port cross sections and valves sizes are all to be reduced to try and increase the torque,
or atleast gie me a wider rev range of the same torque number.

I think I understand, higher compression and smaller ports will increase the speed of air mixture resulting in more torque. Are you going to use
titanium vales on these heads? If so you may also be able to drop spring pressures and reap a few lost HP there also. Thanks Dave I always like
following your posts and always learn something.

Exhaust Ports are completed:
Here's what they started like:
Throating out the seat size:
Tilted the head slightly to favour the thick part of the casting/
The exhaust port was indexed at 9 degrees to match the valve guide angle.

Inlet ports finished
Just need to make some valve guides, cut the seats and do the chambers and it will be time for he flow bench:
For reference, here's what they looked like at the begining:

Rough out Chambers
Made a tool with a 40 degree top cut angle, and radius for the seats.
I plunged down to a clean up point within the chamber, and then blended in the surrounding areas.
The inlet seat,(50 degrees) will be cut down onto this area,
and the 40 degree part will become the top cut for the seat.
The chamber around the inlet seat has a convex shape.
The area around the exhaust will have a concave shape
since it is still 45 degrees seat angle,
and I used the same tool to clean the chamber floor and seat.
It will eventually have a 35 degree top angle that will be blended into the surrounding chamber like the pictures.

Actually, all the holes have been reduced in size when compared with my Pauter heads.
That being said, the valves are still 53.34 x 39.37mm.

Once i have the valves,
I can cut the seats and flycut the heads for compression.
How far I actually go will depend on the piston crown, and how deep the notches can be.
Would like to get 15:1 comp this time.

Deck height with new pistons.
Head will get a .015" step.
Checking piston to valve clearance.
Or should i say piston IN valve clearance?
first piston notch steps:
Old 12" lathe chuck and sleeve an pin that I used to hold the piston for notching.

Modifying the old exhaust.
Once I cut off the old flanges,
the 1 7/8 pipe fits snuggly into the new stubs.

This is a shot after I roughed out another 5mm for compression.
Total flycut so far is 7.75mm.

No Idea actually,
until I flow them, and sort out what compression I will have.
At this stage it looks like I will not even
acheive the same compression ratio that I have now.
The valve lift is .762 with soft springs,
and i have the valve notches as deep(nearly) as i dare.
As I suggested earlier,
the initial goal is to try for some 10.5's so this will equate to about 275 FW HP, or about 245 to the wheels
