You don't need subaru to check live data or codes, any aftermarket scanner like Coda, Hanatech, OTC, carmann etc will do it. Most workshops will have
one of these. It's more likely a setup problem though.

P0102 MAF SENSOR LOW INPUT - Is the MAF sensor still fitted to a std size tube(~60mm ID)?
P0458 EVAP PURGE VALVE CIRCUIT LOW- Unplugged or has been unplugged.
P1230 FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT MALFUNCTION - Did you get one of these? It is necessary. If you did get one then make sure the fuel pump body is
insulated and the power and earth for the pump only go to the control unit. Bosch pumps will ground through the pump body and the control unit will
not work properly in this case.
P0037 REAR 02 SENSOR LOW INPUT - This could be a positioning problem. The front sensor is an A/F ratio sensor(like a wideband) the rear is a normal O2
sensor and the ecu uses the two to check catalyst efficiency. If the sensor is too close or too far away from the cat it can cause issues.
P0245 WASTEGATE SOLENOID A LOW - Probably from being unplugged.
Firstly, most of these codes could be in memory and just caused by the ecu being powered up with the sensors unplugged. Clear the codes and wait for
the engine light to come back on, then recheck.
The Maf code is most likely to be cuasing the problem but it could simply be overboosting. They are pretty sensitive to this sort of change to the
exhaust and intake and will overboost easily. (And don't you have a TDO4 on it? This will also not match the boost control mapping).

The airflow meter looks to be in a larger tube than std but if it was retuned by pulse that shouldn't matter.
I'd say the boost control solenoid is probably missing too seeing as you are using a bleed valve. This will cause a fault code which could be the
cause of the cut.
Is the fuel pump controller in use? It needs to be there.

The problem would be convincing them to work on a none std vehicle

Should be picking up the old girl tonight - supposedly error codes were due to a faulty fuse holder which held fuses for fuel pump and fan. Will see
how we go...
Be good to go for a blast again. Been too busy to get to using it and taking it/picking it up from Westside.
MAy aswell get them to fix any hick-ups, thats why i paid them
lifes too damn busy. Looking forward to a veedub event soon.

yeh give me a buzz dave, Saturday is generally free.
Took it for a little spin last night - frig its fun, and fast. Scared the crap out of some guys in an MR2. They caught up at the next lights and
asked, What the ***** in that - they loved it. Feels quicker then before now, but that might be because i havent driven it in a while.
All seems good though

Hope your electrics play ball. Kinda why I decided to bring my electrics into the 20th century with relays doing the switching and better contacting
modern fuses. Hopefully will be more reliable

Simply amazing! I very much liked the way the engine compartment was expanded into the tire area. I plan to do the same with my car. How is the
rear bumper attached? Is it possible to post photos of this? Is your rear apron removable? At this point, I have an ej20 from a 93 JDM Legacy in
the car, with a Link ECU. Still working on the cooling and such. I can only hope mine turns out half as nice as yours. Enjoy your car!

Well, unfortunately the time has come, way too early really! I've been pondering over this the last few months as some of you know and circumstances
means that at this time i need to sell the bug.
My wife and i bought a house in August last year and 'other' things are on the cards. I really really want to keep it, but its just not practical
and its too much money sitting there not doing anything. I've also started a small side business which has consumed any time that i did have to work
and play with the bug.
I think this thread speaks for itself - im realistic, i know i wont get my money back and i always set out to build the best car i could knowing that
i was throwing money away - it was never my intention to sell, but things and priorities change. I have taken no short cuts on this car - everything
done is top dollar. The condition and panel work on this car is immaculate and amazing. I have seen a lot of brilliantly restored cars, but for an
early 58 this car is extremely straight. No bog, no rust, none of that crap.
I've come up with what i believe is more than a fair price:
Car complete as is: $33,000
Car without conversion: $22,000
If you are interested in the car without the conversion, its easy to go back to aircooled, there is even more room in the 36hp engine bay. Cutting on
the car is minimal, thats the way we did it - alternatively you can stick in another suby, one that isn't done to the extreme like mine.
As a complete car you get all you see in the thread - it has been completely engineered, it has rego until November. The ECU is completely tuned by
pulse racing ($1500 worth) - the later model suby engines need a whole bunch more done to them.
If you want to know what the car cost me i will tell you - only if your interested in the car. Pretty obvious it cost me a bucket load more than the
asking price. I also have receipts. Even minus the conversion, you'd get no where near the quality for 22k - TRUST ME!
My loss, your gain.
