Jason! You weren't supposed to tell anyone yet.
But you're right. Carbon bumpers would be great. Don't know about the bonnet though! Kamei bumper for sure.

Thanks for the kind words though!

In other news.
Went for a quick drive to get some photos of the current status. The photos aren't the best but I was in a rush.

Bonnet has been painted matte black. No more orange. Just a spray can job for now.

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/IMG_0769_zps6001d50e.jpg

Front bumper has been stripped of the white paint and is now ready to be polished and have the black strip installed to match the rear.

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/IMG_0763_zps68199d92.jpg

Need more rear camber.

Looks fantastic seb?
What's a quick run down of the parts you have used to achieve this look?
And what does she drive like that low?
I hope this makes it on the stance works page very worthy of it

Thanks mate!

Quick run down would be Topline MaXX struts, custom built BBS RS's (by yours truly) and then just lowering the rear end.
She drives okay I guess. It's quite a stiff ride at the rear due to being 15mm above the bump stop and on what look like original rear shocks.
Hopefully when I'm in Melbourne I'll be getting some shocks that are for lowered rears.

One can only wish it makes the S|W page! Would be brilliant if it did though. I think it wouldn't though, the roof is the one part that lets it down unfortunately.

put some heavier torsions in the back and it will ride better when low I found. firmer but more progressive if that makes sense so you dont bottom out. I think i used 26mm long bars from memory with kyb shocks.

Thanks Owen, I've already got the Type 3 torsion bars and double spring plate setup.
Just need new shocks and it should be a lot nicer.

IRS baby.

Maybe one day I'll own a bug that has a full Mendeola Suspension rear end. That would be awesome.

Hi Seb

You nailed it, it really looks the goods. My son David said you got right as well.

The photo next to the stocker is choice.

How did you roll the guards? I'm expert now, I often do the guards on David's Skyline with a bit of 2 inch steam pipe.

Thanks Steve!

I'm glad both you and David like it, I love it :)

Basically rolled them with a flag pole to begin with, but then went at it with some multi-grips and pulled the lip up. Then finished it off with a mallet.

Thanks again for the love!

You can buy them blank and get them drilled for 4x130 but be sitting down when you see the price tag.

That's why one of the best things you can do is get away from VW stud pattern.

Go with a common one and your choice is almost unlimited.

All the wheels you could want. It also becomes a burden as it is hard to choose as the choice is so great!

Yep, changing over to 5x114.3 was the best decision I made I reckon.

Well, another trip has been booked for Melbourne. I can't stay away, that place is so much better than here in Adelaide.
Luckily I have a bit more time to work on Zelda and getting her a bit more prettier before the trip over.

Plan is the following.
1. Finish engine.
2. Clean up roof (remove headlining, push out dents, paint).
3. Clean up guards (swap rears for elephant feet and fronts need indicator holes welded up, painted).
4. New front bumper installed with indicators in it.

Let's see how we go. I've got about five weeks before I leave.

Or just do what I do, pick up a used set of rims with good tyres.

It's win win, cheaper than buying 4 brand new tyres and you get some new look rims at same time

At one point I had 8 different sets of rims in circulation, few of my other cars have same stud pattern too.

Engine won't be ready in time for the next Melbourne trip, so will clean up the current one a bit. Just routine maintenance really.

Need to take the front guards off and weld up the indicator holes. Either that or just fibreglass over.
I'll be doing this tomorrow night/tonight all going well.

Hopefully get the new front bumper installed this weekend. I'm hoping I can grab some elephant feet fenders too. We'll see what happens.

It was DOVW yesterday. There was a 2013 Beetle there and we decided it would be interesting to get some photos of Zelda next to it.

Forty years between the two models and it is obvious that they're both Beetles.

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/883957_152301551602014_654294156_o_zpsf8d973b6.jpg

You can also see in this photo that I've started the roof work. There is a lot of work that needs to be completed before the 24th of April.
There will be some massive changes happening in the coming weeks, the majority of them will be kept secret until everything is finished.

One thing is for sure, Zelda will hopefully see a new coat of white paint once the body work has been finished. The rear guards will also need to be changed out.

Thanks Dylan!

Yep, bringing Zelda back in style. She's going to look very different in the next four to five weeks.
That's all I have really. Time to get cracking.

Less updates on here, more working in the shed I reckon.

Will probably end up doing weekly updates or something. I'm assuming people enjoy this thread with the amount of views it gets a day.

Cleaning out the shed tonight. Body work starts this weekend. Getting shit done!

This was originally just a four into one header system and then I took it to CarLine Exhaust here in Adelaide and they fabbed something up for.

Thanks for your kind words in regards to the wheels!

The life of Zelda has come to an end.
Found too much rust to be bothered to fix her.
Will be parting her out shortly. Have a few boxes of bits and pieces that hopefully some people will like.

Already have a new car. Still has a boxer motor, it's just Japanese instead.

Dropping the engine tonight hopefully and will start to strip it back.
All the ancillaries will be for sale. Will post everything up in the for sale section tonight/tomorrow.

I could, but currently I need to just get some money back from what I've spent and pull my head in for a bit.
I did what I did with Zelda, and she's known internationally, but I can't afford to spend any more money on her.

When I'm thirty/forty years old I'll take another crack at doing a Super, if I can find a shell that hasn't been molested by the foam of death.
I'm not leaving the VW scene, I can't do that, I'll be around for a bit no doubt, but I'll be driving around a Subaru for the next few years no doubt.

Zelda and I had a good run. Almost two years ago I got her. She's my first car and she'll be dearly missed, but life goes on and I'm making the right decision financially and personally also.

I have no room to store the car in the shed for a rainy day. Maybe if I was twenty plus and had my own garage it would be easier, but currently living at home with a Mum that doesn't want car shit everywhere makes it quite difficult.

I'll be selling everything I can and then probably taking the car to the scrap metal place.
The pan is in okay condition, and the heater channels are fine. Maybe someone will want the pan and shell, not sure yet.

I don't think I will regret it, unfortunately. I feel like I've wasted the last year trying to do this other shell to then have nothing come of it.
Sure I've learnt a tonne of shit and I now have a heap of knowledge on how to do my own project one day, it's just disappointing that the end result to the last year is far from what I thought it'd be.

Live and learn I guess.
One door is closing, another opening.
