Frallan is the man when it comes to unique engine builds be it type 1 or 4. Be great to see your oval and reworked engine at Warwick Wayne.

I wont have the oval ready for Warwick this year as Pauter still need to machine the new semi-modular cylinders for my type-4 engine after I give them
the dimensions that I require .
I will be bringing the new Dragster to Warwick this year to give it a run , Pauter are currently machining the new semi-modular cylinders for the
type-1 engine and I should receive them next week

On that engine the timeserts with 8 mm original T1 studs are used.
The steel plates are flat against the timeserts.
Now it is likey that I will call Randy at Raceware and repalce all studs with his superstuff.
Still using same concept of timesert in the block and not in the steel plate.
As it is 911 concept, all studs are equal length.

That all sounds like it works for you ..... however the problem I face with a type-4 engine is that the factory studs are 12mm on the OD where they
screw into the engine case , and when I bore the engine case for the 104.75mm cylinders I only have approx 1mm of case thickness to the studs . A
couple of times in the past I have found cracks down the case spigot at the haedstud area and have had to get them welded and remachined .
My idea with this engine is not to screw the headstuds into the engine case , not to use timeserts . I am fabricating the chromoly plate 15mm thick
and all 24 headstuds will screw directly into the plate in 10mm threads , leaving much more material between the cylinder opening and the studs , not
to mention the added strength of being screwed into steel rather than alloy . Randy from raceware has supplied all of the headstuds for all of our
race engines , I would highly recommend them . Wayne

15 mm of steel is more than enough to hold your studs for sure. I use Raceware studs also. I met Randy years ago when I had a 911 , he had a news
letter on 911's back then that I suscribed to . He is a very intellegent guy who makes a superior product. Mike McCarthy
