would appear that way.........BUT that's what they worked their way up to, before he saw the results of valve float fade and stop..........big
"chevy" springs with seats welded and bottom 1/3 of spring "encapsulated"...........KB-435 cam so lift at valve was well over 0.600"and would hit
9000rpm......... the guy that did his race heads was amazed at just how much spring pressure was needed for the VW as opposed to "others", even tho
they were also race only preparations.
even my piddly little motor has close to 300pds on the nose

I run 260 seat and 620 nose pressure with .690" on current combo.(shimmed to .040" from bind).
Ti valve and 8400 limiter....could sneak it up to 8600 this year but I hate adjusting valves.
Some believe the safe limit for flat tappet wear is about 430 to 450 lbs over the nose,
but this is dependant on rocker ratio...I used 430 on my own flat tappet in the blower engine.
Bergs (roller) used 500 nose pressure,
and CB's Pat claim to use 500 no probs...with flat tappet...
everything needs o be spot on if that is the case.

i wouldn't have thought your seatup needed that much on the nose ,i guess alittle over what you need is better than alittle under,
i did do some home work and asked some questions.even don (cam supplier)reconed start at 210.
my set up is 210-215 un shimmed i thought it would be a good starting point .i'll give it a a lash.
mines only 650' lift this time around.left it up to the duration to sort it self out.
down sharon.

I cant remember all the numbers, but 190 and 390 ring a bell. Had 595 lift and saw over 9000 rpm a few times altho anything over 8500 was never
necessary. I never experienced any valve float or head problems with those pressures.... Shows to go ... hey

I love the sound of an aircooled volksy at anything over 8. One thing my old dragcar was good for was that it was always a clean revvin machine.
Nothin like it
Keep up the good work, I'm sure this thing's gonna haul.

Sorry, I thought what I said was funny, I guess it doesn't always come across that way when your typing words, it was meant to read in a humorous

True ... but resembling a vw motor is close enough when they are roughly 30 - 70 years old.

manifolds are nearly done.
where's the fat controller when you need him i have heaps of shit to do and not enough time to do it.
any how i started with a 30 degree bend, made a tappered dolly and of i went.
once i had finished i tapped it altogether for a little testing on the flow bench.it was interesting.
i don't want to bore you with the details so i will show you some pic's.
with the last picture ,i don't know why everyone puts 50 cent's next to there ports ,so i figured it must be for good luck or to make a wish.so i
wished for good luck.
