Hi

Just picked up my Beetle body shell from W&R Smash at Peakhurst, all fixed now and a great job as usual, I don't have room in my garage to work on fixing the chassis and store the body so I took the body shell out to Auto Vault http://www.autovaultstorage.com.au/  at Sydney Olympic Park. I even got a preffered site next to the owners pickup and Chevy. While I had trailer on the car I picked up the 1 3/4 tubing to make the new reinforcing on the chassis from Racetech at Eastern Creekhttp://racetechsteel.com.au/

Steve

I know the owner of the place, I live next door to his sister, premises are owned by sister & brother in law, they use the front half.

I just bought a .63 Tial V Band rear housing for my turbo, Im going to lift and rotate the turbo. I was lucky a good friend happened to be near ATP in north Cali and picked it up for me.

foam, plastic pipe and base coat to get the shape.

had to beat the aluminum sheet so it has roughly the same curve as the guard when it gets attached from underneath.

Hi

been getting a bit done on the chassis. I'm going to lay my shocks a little further forwards to give more axle clearance.

I'm really happy with the tube bender and notcher that I bought from Affordable benders, really nice bend with no kinks. I made the first bit to go over the transmission and allow the torsion bar inner spline area to be removed.

I made an extra base for the hoop using 50x50 tube, I made it into a U channel and I was having difficulty cutting a hole with the notcher until I welded a length of angle to it

I think I can save as few kgs, I was a bit liberal with 25x50 RHS, it weighed in at 1180 ready to race, not tools, spare wheel etc

As Im busy with the chassis I dropped the motor of to Ichibahn to have more killer wasps added, ARP 625 headstuds, valve springs and head gaskets, motor was just sitting there so I thought while its out I might see what we can get out of it.

I also removed all of the redundant tubes in the tunnel

Lots of work happening on the pan, should be ready for a sandblast and paint this week.

My dyno guy always had trouble strapping my car down so I had some brackets profile cut, I will also have long strap made up for it for CAMS events as a rear tow point, rear tow points are a hassle on most Beetles as the there is nowhere really solid to use.

I'm using new flat floor pans from GT Beetles so no built in seat mounts, so I made some seat frames for my Recaros from scratch
