cam is in and dialled,
pistons are notched some more,
heads are done, exhausts ported and new springs.
Berg exhaust has arrived today, 2 1/8", but will modify.
Waiting on some new rods from pauter.
Lots to do before Feb:
Engine,
Dyno,
Fresh trans,
test and tune.
Lose another 5KG.

On closer inspection, the Berg exhaust was not up to their former reputation, so began from scratch.

I've heard that.... Aren't the headers made by Phoenix for them?..... The quality control is not like it used to be.... Sad..... Just bought some
stuff off the BERG's last week.... Hose's and such.... Hope they are still the best out there.

I am sure they would have worked fine,
but I needed to extend the tubes to clear my fuel pump, and this would have put everything too far rearward.
Also, the collector is quite ugly on the inside, with lots of mig weld.
The tubing is also only .040" thick,
so by the time I did all the mods, I thought it would be best to start from scratch with .062" wall tubes. I did use a part of the stinger though.
$720 and 8 weeks wait is a lot for a stinger.

Now using the MSD powergrid system.
Just to clarify, the $720 was the cost including delivery of the entire Berg 2 1/8" exhaust.
In the end I only used the stinger and part of one J tube.
Thanks for the link modnrod, that will help next time!

Thank you for the offer Mike, that is very kind of you.
In all fairness to the Bergs,
the cost to me on freight for this exhaust was only $140.
In fact, they stuck with their quote,
and it actually cost THEM another $100,
because the box was too large for USPS, and it had to go on FEDEX.
I have to say that despite this Berg exhaust being a little ugly,
and delivery was 2 months instead of the 2 weeks they told me,
they were the only company that could deliver a 2 1/8 system.
There were other companies I tried, but in the end all that occured was a 2 month delay.
I should not have been so lazy initially
and just done what I did anyway.
With regard to freight costs,
most good US companies
are trying to ONLY charge their COST on freight,
because the have the foresight not to screw over the customer,
and thus get returned business.
Some businesses both here in Australia and USA,
are too short sighted to see that
poor service, and also 'profit taking on freight costs' ensures no repeat business.
Here are some businesses I have dealt with recently that are VERY GOOD with their service, and have a very competitive freight bill.
Pauter Machine Company USA
Mick Motors Brisbane,
(although I wish their yearly break was not til the 16th Jan!)
Bergs,(bit slow though)
Weddle,
Summit,
Best Mufflers Melbourne
Performance Metals Sydney
Performance Wholesale Brisbane

If you order anything else from Summit Racing , order it from the McDonough, GA store (1-770-288-3200) and ask for Mike Chambers. Mike races with me
and has given me nice discounts. He will cut you a better deal than anyone else. Mike

That's a good list Dave. I can add a couple that I've been using for years too (some for bikes and V8 dinosaurs, sorry!).
Summit (just LOVE that online catalogue!)
Cone Engineering
Part Shark (if you have Yamaha/Suzuki/Can Am gen parts needed, go here)
MPS (Motorcyle Performance Specialties)
JP Cycles (especially if you love your Harley accessories)
Also years ago, I always had good service from CB Performance, and especially Aircooled.net, not sure if they're still that way now though.
Not quite as long ago as when I had a Direct Connection account number however (now I'm showing my age!).
USPS seems to be the best for most stuff that's not too big.

I like I like..... Is that fuel standoff above the throttle bodies ? I don't fully under stand how that would happen in your case - it's mech
injection right ? Wonder what the mist is otherwise ?

You can also get fuel standoff on EFI as well, the late model Ducati's with shower injectors (mounted at end of runner tube) can also get it at some
revs.
It's just due to the pulsing in the intake, whether it's carbs or injection, at some tuning revs the air-fuel mix will create standoff.
I'd love to look into a window into a tunnel ram plenum one day........

Have a look on you tube,
even formula one have, and USE the stand off to their advantage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2jTKNHNr8g&feature=related
Mine is still a little excessive,
but these are the little things I like to tinker with.
I had to retard the cam a bit to improve piston to valve clearance,
so if I can close the inlet valve a little sooner that may improve the stand off.
...but that means thicker pistons, and more time on the mill. love it!

When I first changed to these heads it had only 218.2,(and 222 at Leon's dyno(Mania))
which I was disappointed with considering the heads flowed over 300cfm @25",
When I last dynoed with these heads, with bigger duration cam and better ignition it had 229 atw
Now it has 250.4, with even bigger cam and better exhaust.
For comparison, with my old heads on this engine, it had 220.4atw and ran a 10.93@122.31.
My old engine(from 2005 to 2008), with much less cylinder head flow had 220.8 and ran 11.00@121.47.
Car weight has always been 1785lbs(810kg?) (or more, added alternator , msd and fat)
and gearing for 1/4 mile about 8300 to 8400 through the finish.
