Hi, has your accelerator cable throttle-end attachment got a little allen key bolt holding it on? Mine does, as I discovered recently when I wanted to change it - it's frayed at the engine bulkhead panel, and there's a lot of freeplay in the pedal. I also suspect that I can't actually 'floor' it anymore, as in give it wide open throttle.

But she still runs very fine! Good old bus.:kiss

I feel a little bad cause I have had Vern since January and have done nothing besides get a new clutch and paint him.......no tinkering in the engine bay just get start and off we go. Have noticed a little puff of smoke occasionally when starting so that could mean I am up for some work maybe. I have no clue so I'll just wait till something happens.

Good for you. No such luck here! My bus broke down the first time I drove it after taking it home! Some sort of problem with the fuel pump I think. Had it fixed, got ripped off. Yay.:cussing

We almost got stuck in a dry area of SA near the Flinders Ranges (my sister and I) later on. There was something seriously wrong (still, even after being ripped off by the mechanics): we had a top speed of forty, occasionaly more. I think two cylinders weren't working, but we never found out the real reason. As far as I know, the problem still exists, though the symptoms are different these days. Actually, since I had the timing done (I don't know how to do that!), and did the valves (easy), all seems well. The test will be next time I fill up halfway through a trip!

My experience has been that I learnt heaps because she was playing up so often. It kinda aggravated some people I was travelling with (the slow pace and often stopping), but not me - I took it as a learning experience.

So perhaps, if you're keen, buy a clapped out old bomb some day and keep a tool box in the ... car somewhere.:)

Wow, yikes. It's just started p***ing down! Thunder and everything! And I have to ride home.:D It's been really warm here, like 20 degrees or something, all day! Remember you lucky northerners, this is melbourne, so 20 is good for this time of year. All right, I love a good storm!

Been a lovely day here in Sydney.... very warm.

Well I am at home holding down the fort while Matt is next door at the neighbours piss-up. At least I got to go over there and have dinner and chat until Jack got too tired.

Think I might hit the sack soon. Had another bad night with Jack so I am in need of some sleep.

What's the best way to get a sheared bolt out of a compromising position?

Too much torque on the ratchet. Bloody hairy knuckled alpha male that I am! (hahahahahahahahahahahaha)
