Hi

there are several different ways to do it.

Have your stock springs compressed, cheap

Have the lower spring seats cut off and welded lower, a bit dearer

Or go skinny adjustable struts which then allows you to use wider wheels on the front. can get expensive

Nor sure about costs, it depends a lot on your ability to do things yourself

Thankyou, I have heard of a place that sells the adjustable struts for around $300. I am then going to buy a spring compressor and change them myself.

UPDATE!

Hey guys, i realize its been a while since i last posted so here is a bit of an update...

Got the engine running again after replacing the main seal that was shredded when i started it for the first time in 16 years.

Moved the location of the bug a little closer to home as my grandmother moved house, only downfall is there is no garage at the new place :fakesniff:

purchased a nice set of rims off a dubber from this forum.

purchased all the paint required for a full respray, just awaiting nice weather for a backyard spray job haha.

purchased all window seals, taillights, headlight bulbs, windscreen wipers, a set of golf mk1 indicators, accelerator pedal, accelerator, clutch and bonnet cables, bonnet handle (you'll find out why shortly), factory exhaust and heater channels, front rotors, rear drums, master cylinder, battery, guard seals, sound system, ect ect.

Soooo... i had to replace the bonnet handle as i had a small incident after my brother decided to idle the bug forward rather then push it... shortly to realize cars don't stop without brakes... at about 2km/h it gently pushed itself against his bull bar of his Toyota Land-cruiser... which didn't even scratch his car... but not so lucky on mine... it pushed the whole bonnet in, bent the chrome and broke the front handle.
since then the bonnet has been panel beaten back out and resprayed looking almost better then before.

i have literally parts laying all over the house. In the Shed, Back door step, Lounge room, Piles of boxes in the bedroom and whats in the car... i am so keen to get out and put it all on but there's a lot to do before then.

what else?

i have purchased a new Dash mat and had 'poppy' embroidered into it as my grandfather helped me to get the car before he passed away from cancer. this is the reason the car means a whole lot more to me.

If all goes to plan then she'll be back on the road before christmas this year. i'll try to update a little bit more often and will add some photos shortly.

Thanks guys!

Thanks Rob :)
I like them too, might have to look at widening the guards though, they stick out a little bit far... Which gives me the excuse

I like the dash mat and indicators. Can you share where you got them from, please.
Cheers,

Sure Willie, Sorry i took a while to get back to you, haven't had much time till recently.
The Dash mat I Had custom made through SuperCheapAuto Belive it or not, i think it was about $80??? they had a separate company complete it for me.

The Indicators Were from Vw Heritage in the UK, They are made for early Golfs but fit the beetle no problem. link Below.
