BIG :thumb:thumb UP FOR THE DYNO DAY

Congrat Dave that was on impressive dyno pull. Just read the spec and all I can say is well done must be something in the old magnetos us old guys missed when they first came out.

Craig you need to take a chill pill man. Although I did not have a car to run on the dyno at CBB I must say that it apeared to me that MIKE had nothing but the upmost of respect for every car and its engine that went onto the rollers. He ran each engine to what ever revs the customer wanted or until it stoped making power. I dont understand why you didnt take advantage of the $35.00 power run with figures that you quote ? I would be proud to participate in a VW only dyno day.

I was so suprised after speaking to Mike and the dyno rep Harry I think it was , that Mike had only been using the dyno for 3 months. Congrats to Mike and all the CBB guys I saw on the day it was a very professional and relaxed day.

;)

P.S the pub around the corner was great too

Each to their own just remember what goes around come around.

I've been to other dyno's, and I'm over the big horse power number thing.

My car makes respectable power and thats good enough for me.

Keep in mind a Dyno machine is an engine tuning device, horse power is just a by-product of a well tune engine.

Torque makes your wheels spin not hosre power.

Now get over it and enjoy your ride.

Why do I need to take a chill pill ???????

I think Mike ran a fantastic day for all that attended, and thanks to Matts work for helping to promote it. Mike did not run Troy's motor past 6000rpm as it was running to lean and could have done serious damage, :thumb up for Mike in having respect for someone else's motor.
Troy's cam is the same as Greg Wards, so I know where they power is made. I was not blaming Mike, just making the point that the motor was not run at full potential for the combo.

I did not run as I was at my grandmother's 92nd birthday, so I made sure I went to a compatible Dyno Dynamics Dyno. Everybody wanted me to post figures of my 1916, I do, and now I cop it as well.

Well said, that's why I have never put my car on a Dyno, don't care. I just did it because I was sick of everybody claiming it would not get over 100hp, and others saying I had something to hide:mad:

A well tuned engine!

Recently I've been playing around with the spark in my engine and it feels like a different car. It's so much smoother and responsive and it absolutely sings at the top end.

Previously I'd put the sloppiness in the engine tune down to the carbs.

I'm looking forward to another run on the dyno just to see what difference a better spark makes.

Judging by the dyno results from CBB there are a few out of tune engines.

The good things about these dyno readings is that it will make people concentrate on tuning their engines rather than just going for bigger heads and cams etc to improve their horsepower.

My street eliminators made 76 hp and my unported 044s made 83.3 hp. I'm sure I can get close to 90 with a well tuned engine and a few more lessons learned. I'm starting to see that it's all in the combo.

Aside from the bitchiness this is a very interesting post. Perhaps there needs to be a permanent dyno thread.

Well done Craig (and Stan) for getting 111.6 out of the 1916. I'm sure Greg's engine would be close with correct jetting.

Well 121.5hp was just recorded at CBB from a POBJOY STEROIDS on the weekend. It was "run up" several times to confirm the figures. Thanks to Mike for his tuning efforts:thumb

This motor is a full warranty POBJOY SPEC 1916cc with a street legal muffler and a standard pulley.
121hp from a Pobjoy steroids has now been confirmed :thumb;)

well Stan has always quoted 120hp.

You buy jets from a carby shop:P

My "race" motor will be pumping more power soon, jet change and then dyno run.
Its all in the Combo :thumb

yes he did say that it had a good fuel to air ratio, but I will change the jets to the same as Troy's and will see what the results are. If this does not get the results then its off to Mikefor a tune.

Might be worth you going to CBB Jak to see if you can crack the 100hp with your stroker.

The grey and white supercharged 2L kombi belongs to Derek Brock. It's now metallic blue and white. (CBB built engine)

They are part of the tie down mechanism for the dyno.
