wacky analogies.. wtf is a felco?

Quite frankly, Stan could charge whatever he likes for his motors, as noone else can do them. period. it's like saying "I was going to buy a set of Felco secateurs, but they looked the same size as the $12.95 taiwanese ones next to them, so I got them instead. They don't really cut anything more than once, but they still look the same." There is only one Felco. they cost more, but they're the best. Not even a question of cost once you use them. I'll still be happy with my genuine article years from now, while the cheap and dirty reco option will still be a bucket of shit like it was the day it was built. (if it's still in the car) Nothing compares to these motors, because they're in a class of their own. For way too many reasons to list, but to find out you have to try them, or at LEAST have a ride ;)

has anyone ever bought a pair of felco secateurs? You'll know what i mean. everyone else.. save your money for a REAL VW motor. actually no, don't. It just makes mine more spesh :D

Barry? you smell funny ;)
I'm still running around with a less than perfect muffler, but as I'm still also running the motor in (easy does it.... easy) it's no big deal as I'm not revving the crap out of it. yet. I promise you a ride some time, but you have to promise not to throw up on my bewdiful rubber floor mats:thumb

sha na naah nahhh.. what the?

a Felco, my horticulturally challenged friend, is a set of primo secateurs that should carry a warning something like "Felco assumes no responsibility for over-pruning of plants due to ease of use."relatively speaking, they make other cheaper choppers feel like trying to cut wire rope with a handfull of wet rags.

Sorry, I breathe, eat and sleep hardware, so some of my analogies may be a tad eccentric. :D
Me and wes have NOT been growing stuff OR things. as far as i know. but if we were, I'd be harvesting with a seven year old pair of felcos.

You shoulda bought the japanese ones beside them, they would've lasted for 400,000kms and been heaps cheaper :D

I think the same can be said about the jap motor, don't knock it til you try it. :P

well i agree with wes, its so much more $$$ efficient to use a jap motor.

although I don't think you have to tell us 3 times that you did it yourself for little $$$. ;D

either way, my car doesn't need to do sub 13 sec 1/4's to be a fun, exciting and unique car. I like it as it is :D

does anyone have a quote on how much it would cost to get it done professionally?

this would be interesting...
althought it would be cheaper still to go and BUY a cheap jap car, and they probably have less rust, better brakes, and better soundproofing too!!! what the hell are we doing here people?:jesus

Pete
There was a story in one of my old VW mags that talked about a Sube conversion in a T3 Kombi - remember this already has a radiator.
I am pretty sure it was like $7k for that! Some mob in Adelaide. I will see if i can find it tonight.

Doesnt Harding Euopean do the conversion for T3 kombis??
This would be a piece of pee compared to the beetle conversion. Even a baja conversion would be easier.

If I was driving the Senator would be slower point to point, only due to the glorious clouds of tyre smoke and rubber I would be laying. So yeah it would be more fun. :D

as for cost of getting a shop to do a conversion, they is some place I think on the sunshine coast that does it for reasonable prices. Not sure though.

I do know you can get workshops to put an SR20DET, 5 spd supra box and beefed up diff into a crap car like an old corolla for about $10,000. Good for about 220HP at the rear wheels and low second 14 second 1/4 mile passes, seriously limited by traction issues though.

Hi all just out of interest my busness partner has a SV300 HSV and after 25K on the clock it needs a new motor. Now this car retailed for $95000 and the cost of the replacement motor is only $8500.
I would have thort on a car this stature the engine would cost more. He is happy with it but as it dosn't realy come into its own until it reaches over 100K's I recon a 1916 would blow it away at the lights and probably the cheeper option.
Cheers Nige

I really should get these pics scanned. I finally introduced myself to the pilot jets on the 44idfs... how's this: in the course of one crazed blatt across the anzac bridge I blew off one plug lead, and blocked two pilots. and i still drove it 30 ks home without any trouble. just didn;t go as hard, and idled VERY roughly :D
anyone interested in a set of full on 'top gun' ignition leads (lower revving motors need only apply) as they have a different holder on the end, which can't take the gale force winds generated by an engine designed to scream. they do have the little boots on the ends, as i ordered them specially for veedub use. I'm asking seven BILLION dollars, but am open to negotiation. or I will accept a sack of fresh rats :D

btw Craig, I reckon I've clocked up that extra 500 k's :D WOOHOO !!!!!!

The answer is !!

At my back wheels which are 31 x 10.5 x 15" tyres through an 1800 Kombi box and type 2 CV's it has .....

52.4 HP at the wheels ....... cool huh ..:thumb:thumb

Just goes to show those 40HP 1600 baja's and buggies are not far behind me.

Pretty cool how my 52.4 HP buggy can pull 4th gear in the soft sand any time it wants.

Maybe the problem is that I built it and not some other guy with magic fingures mmmm makes me really wonder how you guys are getting 120HP at your rear wheels .....

Now I have proof if anyone thinks I am telling fibs and only really have 45hp :D, so lets see the printouts from some of you 1915 Pobjoy engine owners
