Hey Dean - Great find that bumper. Maybe I can return the T3 one and get my $100 back. We wont tell anyone about the scallop out of it. Spyder is taking shape - getting to the point of wiring and mapping the ECU. DOVW in Perth is my aim. Probably on a trailer though!!

Love to drive yours again now you've got it all sorted - puts hair on ya chest I bet.

Cheers Ken, dunno about the hairs on my chest mate, but it certainly makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up when that motor is roaring. You would notice a big diff to way it drives now thats for sure. Getting very easy to handle now.

Cant wait to see the updated Spyder pics.

Your T34 was parked near to us at DOVW, and I went back to look at it countless times.
This is one car that looks way better in the flesh than in photographs; it's go my thinking about a T34 myself!

Your T34 has to be one of the most underrated VWs in OZ. It looked great 10 years ago in fast 4s, it look just as good now, and with the standard bumpers back on what a sleeper.

Thanks guys I am pretty happy with how its turning out too. Still a list of detail and cosmetic stuff I want to do to this KG, but it drives real nice now and is easy to handle.
Pete W hopefully you will get a chance to see it in the metal at the Sydney Nats. Planning on driving it over.

Ahhh Xmas holidays. Why dont we just relax and watch the cricket. No lets get covered in 40 yo grease instead.

Too much time on the hands so yesterday I relocated, replumbed and re-wired the electric fuel pump in the T34. Was mounted at the back but above the outlet on the tank. Now its mounted in the front (on the front beam) directly below the tank. Controlled with a relay. Runs nice and quiet now.

Finally after a few weeks my doors are back on. Got the hinges re-built by a Vintage Car Resto company in Keysborough over the past few weeks. Its the only way to fix sagging doors on T3 Karmans as new hinges are like rocking horse sh*t.
They re-built these with teflon bushes so they operate real smooth. And the doors close bewtyful.

As these hinges are made from cast alloy I thought I would polish them up rather than painting them again. Not factory original but looks way better for mine.

Good to see nice straight shut lines on the car too now

Good to see you retained those stop straps I put on the car!!

Looking good.

Still sorting the 550. Made some side idicators to avoid cutting a 1 in hole in my guard.

Fitting a high light brake light off a new audi TT and windscreen washer, the pits are getting closer!!

Looking good Dean.... I was in love with this car way back in the 80's...
It was an east coast car back then... Funny how the world turns!
I didn't know you owned the T34 Ken.... Did you sell it at the 'Free'n'Easy' the other year?
Love the 550 by the way.... Looked way good sitting on the hill @ DOTVW!!
You must be getting close to rego now?
Some of us NoH2O guys are thinking of heading over for the Nats or maybe Valla this year....
You should drive the 550 over!
Be nice to see all the Porsche Reps and the T34 and that 911 powered Bay sitting together!
And Dean you MUST drive the Ghia up to the Nasho.... Its a great drive!
Hell if I can drive over from Perth for it (which I did a few years back) you could drive up from sunny Melbourne!
Keep up the good work Dean.... Your keeping a bit of history on the road there!

Simon

Yeah I bought the T34 several years ago with a blown (up) engine. It was a 2 l 911s with a dropped valve. I bought a 2.4l injected engine from Swan Porsche and dropped it in the T34 and sold it to Dean thru' this site. I ended up finding a repacement piston for the "S" engine and was intending to put in the 550 when it arrived. But the 6 cylinder engine won't fit in a 550 chassis. I then opted for a 914 engine that i got from Pete Arnoldi.

Rego is getting closer. Still sorting FI and all the little bits the the stupid rules dictate for "new" car.

Not sure if I'm up to the trek east - but will see. Dean up for a drag if I do.

More plumbing changes

Bit of spare time on the weekend and I have finally gotten around to re-locating the brake fluid reseviour. It was previously mounted on a custom made bracket in the nose. But the lines ran up hill then down to the master cylinder. I wasnt really sure if the fluid would flow properly.
So I have now relocated it to operate like a late model Type 3 set up. Looks way cleaner too.
Ken all that folded metal in the front for the Brake fluid and washer bottle is all gone now. Have a lot more front boot space.

Regarding the Nats, its not looking good at the moment guys sorry.

Dean

Its looking very neat.

You'll probably need a new project soon! (a 550 maybe) mine is getting closer. High light brake sorted (ex Audi TT), side indicators, collapsible steering column, wiper washers, E mark lights, hand brake light, carbon canister, catalyst, reversing light..... the list goes on and the pits are getting closer!!

Think maybe you should run your own post for this project....

Hey Dean - sorry to hog your thread!!!

Simon - maybe I will start a thread - just busy sorting the Spyder.

Side lights are off a New Mini with ADR approved LED inserts, two 1mm holes through side panel and double sided tape. Just could not cut a 25mm plus hole in my guard!!

Havent been on AVD much in recent times and its been a long long time since I posted an update in members rides.
My T34 Ghia has been getting a bit of love in the department of the interior in the past 18 months or so.

Fitted some nice new early 911 green faced gauges to replace the black faced later styles.
Also replaced the black racing wheel with a wood rim MotoLita wheel.
