Hi Barry, this is a question of curiosity rather than criticism, but why do this full custom exhaust when there are plenty of seemingly good ones
available at a reasonable price out on the market? Is it for the challenge, or because what's available is not good, or why?
Of course it looks marvellous and I'm envious and I look forward to seeing the impact on the dyno.
Cheers

It is because i have a "window of opportunity" in the bank ballance to cry once
Basically the $500 specials from "the shops" are built to a price
The stainless turns brown within the year and a lot of the are not even correct firing order
The collector should be 4-3-2-1 but you have a look and a lot of the $400 ones are 4-2-3-1
they almost all either stick out the back or hang down
this will be completely tucked away
It is almost also a project for Richard as he want to finally sell these competively .
They DO make real power.
I will post the dyno sheet as to what the difference is.
I made 17 HP by putting on the dells
I will be interested in what these make.
So - again - it is a cry once for a true bolt on HP that will last for a VERY long time

What diameter is it? I'd like to see some back to back testing of the different firing order exhausts and see what kind of difference there is.

It is 1 3/8's going to 1 1/2"
The firing order has a lot to do with simplicity in construction
Have a look at some of the pictures of the various exhaust on different websites and it isnt working
if you have the 4-3-2-1 you get a real scavenging effect that almost sucks the gasses out
they changes only the exhaust on Snotty and they picked up 20km/hr down the straight
So - i am hoping for a noticeable difference
Otherwise i will delete this post
Simon - i really doubt it will sit lower
I dont believe you see much at all below the rear valance

If you want HP and something that really works you only go custom. most of the off the shelf stuff is rubbish and cheap quality and yes you are right
in saying that 90% of the systems on the market have the pipes into the collector in the wrong firing order. I have seen gains of up to 5hp on formula
Vees by simply changing the firing order to be correct into the collector.

Almost...................
Its all flanged and ceramic coated
I have the stainless muffler, pipe and flange.
We have tack welded it in position
I need to get another mate to stainless weld the muffler side
Hoping work is quiet on Friday so i can piss off early and fit it
Then back off to the dyno to see what it has done

Well - its in
VERY happy
No HUGE power gain but man - the FAT torque it now has!
Pulls from down low
Surprisingly it isnt that loud. Burble yes - loud no
Off to the dyno this week hopefully
Tucks nicely up out of the way
Only thing i would have changed is to have used black for the ceramic coating
anyway................... more soon
I'm off for a (another) drive

He is a man not a machine,I don't bag anyone who can fabricate a system like this freehand! If you want machine welds buy an off the shelf product.

Picked up some Recaro's out of a Proton Satria GTi off ebay the other day
Virtually brand new.
Taken straight out in 2003 and then "wrapped in plastic"
I prefer the headrest than the wings i had before.
Plus these sit at a lower height. I can just about see the whole speedo now
Reckon the colour is a close match. Apparently they came in grey. That would have been better - but for the price i am happy.
Already have a Recaro base on VW runners. So they just bolt straight on.
Just need to give the base a lick of black

you need an engineers certificate for changing underpants
EVERYTHING that is not original needs a certificate
These are ADR approved seats that were OEM for a Proton Satria GTi
They are bolted to Recaro bases that connect to the original VW mounting runners
There is no problem getting these engineered

Baz, correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like you have the seats in the wrong location.....
Drivers seat in the passenger side and vice versa.

Dino
you are "sort of" correct
This model has a flip lever on both sholders of the seat - so it doesnt matter which way they go in
I purposely swapped them round so as to have easy access to the adjusting knob from the middle.
There isnt enough room to get your hand down there when the door os closed.
These fit really well (520mm wide base) and dont hinder access to the hand brake in any way
I run door pockets and there is no pressure there either - just not enough room for a hand
It is useful as most people that sit there are "one offs" and usually want to adjust after you have started driving
