DAVE talking about engine damage .....say you have engine trouble during a pass....you pull off the heads ....ooohhh melted pistons.....no logging....you put new pistons in and assume it was tune up...back to the dyno..

same senario this time with logging... end of the run ....pull out logging......oops lost fuel pressure....that is why it was lean.......start checking fuel system ......this time fuel pump has shit itself .....found problem

motec logging did not find feul pump was dead ...but narrowed it down to fuel system this time and we found the problem before we spent more time and money on the dyno.....

Hi Trent

Car looks Great! Are you looking to come and race in Queensland at some stage?

I sure hope so!

That would be a great F4's, Rot & VW with you, Rod, Dave Butler (Pro-Stocker), Mike Nash (Pro-Stocker) Pagey, Wally & a few quick turbo & n/a Streeters!

What HP do you currently have, and, what are your HP goals?

Cheers Craig

Thanx Craig ... love QLD ....on the way up tonight to go camping ..will definately race there one day.....lots of work to do before that though...more seat time and car development, want to put on a good show for you guys...long trip to get there and have problems..

current hp ...have no idea could only guess.....need a good full pass to estimate....probably somewhere between 400 to 500hp currently.
running no water circulation in intercoolers...and 22-23psi....hope to evetually get car putting down about 38-40 psi and 3 stages of nitrous...depending on how car reacts...to power increases...but i will go as hard as i can

Trent

There are new Pro Mod rules starting in 2006.

For turbo, injected, intercooled and nitrous your car must weight 14.04 lbs per cu. in. So 78x98=2353cc = 143.6 cu. in. x 14.04 = 2016 lbs.

Without the nitrous the min weight would be 143.6 x 13.01 = 1868 lbs.

The best e.t. for a 2005 Pro Mod was our car at 8.87 @ 157.76. That was at 1760 lbs with a 2276. For 2006 we will need to weight 1800 lbs. We should be running 8.60's at 160 this next year with a 2276 @ 1800 lbs

Hi scott
Trent will have to add to much weight into the car to get even close to those figures. He ais approx 1700lbs, there is only so much weight you can add.

Looks like two of our top cars will have no class to run in. Trent is too light and rod penrose does not currently fit into a class with his new car.

Sometimes the weight is a good thing. 1700 lbs is a safe weight.

I have a 56 blue choptop street car with a 2965cc Revmaster engine, EFI, Turbo and Air/Water IC. This new engine combo has been running for about 8 months. Best pass to date is 9.79@150.68 with a car/driver weight of 1995lbs. I am freshening up the engine over the winter and hoping to lower that e.t. significantly.

The Red Baron is my friend Eric Calabrese's car. Eric built the car, engine and trans and I setup the engine combo (heads, cam, turbo, efi, IC) and tune the car for him. Basically, I am the crew chief for his car at the races.

Scott,
Perhaps you could start post with some pics of your engine, (and Erics) while they are appart for freshen.
I ran a 2965cc Pauter in my drag car but it was supercharged using crankshaft, cylinders, cam and clutch that I made from scratch...I am very interested in your combo.
Regards, DB.

Dude your car is awesome. I saw it featured in a mag (can't remember which one) a while back and it is the buso. 9.7 is damn fast for a street car. I bet there are alot of jealous people wishing they could get even close to that in dedicated strip machines.

Keep up the good work.

Trents re-build has taken much longer than they expected. The work is nearly finished with the car to be stripped next week so the chasis can be repainted. It appears a lot have changes have been made. New gearbox, chasis strengthening, new fire wall, garrett turbo, nitrous set up, motec engine control and full logging, front brakes and more. The chasis will be painted next sat then off to the dyno. C&V will tune the car on a hub dyno with the help from city performance. There is a lot of information that can now be logged with the motec including chasis control. There are hours of track time and dyno time before the car will be sorted.
Every time i go to city performance there is another vw there. They now have 4 in different stages of development. Have not met the owners of these cars so will not comment on their build plans. One street car has all the bits to do extremely well, I hope it all comes together for him.
Some more photos of trents car I took the other day before it was to be fully stripped for painting

Ouch!

I will let Trent fill in all the details, but I heard he damaged his car last Wed night at WSID test session.
Glad to hear that he is OK....The car is only metal and can be fixed or replaced.
Don't do what I did Trent...get back into it...get back on that horse.
I sat out for two and a half years, but wish I had not been away for so long.

That is sad to hear. The car has some seious potential.

Let's hope Trent chooses to run the car with a bit less power for a while, when he rebuilds. Give him a chance to really tune the chassis then turn on the power to show us another single figure ET drag car in Oz.

All the best Trent.
