Loving the work you've done, just got myself a 56 oval ragtop as a rolling project, any advice on the best place to get parts to refurbish the ragtop, also who did you get to do your wiring loom?

Cheers

56 rag

Des

Congrats with scoring a 56 rag, not easy to find an original RHD oval rag

I had Rod at classic wiring looms in Lillydale carry out the wiring side of things there very thorough with what they do and are carfull around freshly painted cars. I'd recomend them.

Sunroof parts would have to come from wolfsburg west in the states all of the parts from them are A1 the quality in all there parts is exceptional.

All the best with your resto if your in need of oval parts check all the relivant channels forums, ebay etc.

Bugboy on here will usally have what you need too.

Maybe you should start a post put some pics up here show everyone what you've got

progress is been made very slowly but it is happening.

The last few weeks I've started sorting the 36er out, stripping it down checking and cleaning it up ready to go back into the car. I was originally planing on a later engine which I had built a gearbox for, but a change of plan to go back to a stock 36er has made me pull the late box ready for the original box to be freshend up and slotted back in.

These are a few pics of the car just before me and Fonz (over on a short stay from blighty ) pulled the later gearbox out. NB The car needs a wash.

Here's a few pics maybe not much looks to of changed but I do have the bumpers fully restored and fitted, I've used a set of genuine VW Aust stainless steel blades had the towel rail holes welded up and the blades then polished. The overriders are genuine German NOS to which I've added the original type rubber protector strips to. I'll get some pics of these up

Belive it or not I'm still waiting for my interior from West Coast Classics which was paid for in full back in Oct 2010. I'll keep you posted on that.

The other news is I've just compleated a reno / build on our family home which has limited any shed time Volkswagen wise so I'm now looking forward to getting this thing on the road

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c209/MrBubbleHead/125.jpg

Don't worry the red gearbox mounts are gone. back in with the standard detailed 36hp box and engine is the plan. to get it on the road

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c209/MrBubbleHead/56%20oval/116.jpg

NOS tail lights. I'm still chasing a pair of NOS headlights any leads anyone?

Adam your dam right

I'm very happy with the colour which once the interior arrives (only been waiting for 19 months long story) I'm ready to get it fitted by my trimmer the all I have to do is finish painting the engine tin and minor bits and pieces detailing the fuchs etc and I'll be looking towards getting it on the road.

I'm still hoping on Valla but not holding out. I did get a NOS ashtray for the dash a few weeks ago.I was very happy as I missed out on one a few years back.
