If anyone has an engine that makes about 250 hp they could run mid to low 11's all day.
How much would it weigh Dave? 1600-1800 lbs?
most of the hard work is done and would make a fun car to race for not much cash.

Depending on driver weight, this would be under 1600lbs with a 75kg driver.
250hp would put you solidly into the 10s with this car.
500hp would put you into the 8s.
I ran 147 mph in this car with 450hp, and it was 1830lbs with 60lbs ballast up front,
me at 100kgs,
and 100lbs worth of blowers and fuel system atop the Pauter engine.
A VW cased engine would be much lighter.

could get it to Perth for us, we'd be laughin'!!!!!!
Anyone want to help us poor WA boys out?

Definately a good place to start for somebody-all the difficult and expensive stuff's been done.My roll cage alone has cost about $1,000, without my
time getting it all ready and notching the pipes etc. Will have a chat to you later this year about what I will need to build up a Kombi box for mine.

This is an engine pick from around 2001.

Ahh the memories...
I guess that I was lucky enough to see this car run at a Test and Tune. Didn't know Dangerous was there till he fronted up at the line. I was sitting
in the grandstand with a few mates watching another mate run when i got a tap on the shoulder and one of my mates said " here's one of your try hard
VW mates". I didn't actually know Dave at the time but knew of him. He fired this thing up and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. Sounded
awesome and a few of my mates laughed and said "it sounds like a tractor". I replied with "fastest blody tractor you'll ever see". They roared
laughing and continued with the smart comments till Dave staged and literally drove it off the line with no launch.
By about the 100 ft mark it looked to be fairly quick but my mates still were laughing. Then when Dave hit 3rd he poured on the power and it just
bolted. Broke traction top of 3rd from memory so a short shift into 4th and squeezed it on again and run through for a low 10 pass from memory at
about 110-120 mph. I sat and just smiled while the comments from the peanut gallery behind were that of total shock. One of mates said " imagine how
fast it would run if he got on it for the whole quarter mile". I didn't say much in return apart from "yeah I'd imagine it would be pretty quick
indeed".
those were the days.....

As soon as Craig Paton comes out of retirement
(no engine build takes thayt long, do you want me to book you in!?)
Rod plans to race this car.
Engine may be anything from a supercharged 1584cc up to a 2800 na combo.
At least two projects to finish for rod befor this one however.

HI Guys
Thanks for the kind words!
I don't take any comments personally from the V-dub community as I know your just trying to spur me on.
After spectating at Warwick,it started to get the juices flowing for a bit. Those feelings disipated quickly.
AS far as I know the crank is at Stan's,not sure what's happening with anything else.
Basically all I need to do is install the hard fuel line through the tunnel & replace brake fluid.
However,I'm completely unmotivated with my bug and I'm focused on my Finance Business.
I do look forward to racing again sometime, esp against some V8 friends.
Regards
Craig Paton

Initially there was some mind issues going on,
but more, which 'life direction' to head.
But after I began to race my old car again, in All Motor Class,
I realized that any money and time spent on the tube frame car'
could be better spent engine development, on the one I am racing now.
The other benefit was that being sold to fellows that i knew well,
the option would always be there to try my engine out in a lighter car at some point.
