Well, since she's an auto I have my doubts that the gearbox could cope with a Suby engine... and yeah, she's nice as stock.
.... but this impending delivery might suit a Suby! :P

Yeah, she's nice as she is
I was just thinking of a solution to the oil pump problem when you do an engine conversions.

gull had one, apparently you just use the powersteering pump as an oil scavenger and put a cooler on the tranny. something else about an extra gasket
on the input shaft or something too.
Right then PBB, time for a suby powered fasty!

Pete , gull was using a kombi auto not a semi auto. The semi auto requires an external pump to run the system, I was thinking instead of using the
power steering pump as an auxillary oil cooling circuit to use it as the main supply pump for the converter.Hence with some possible pressure
adjustments you could adapt a subie to a semi auto ( you could even run a cooler on the pressure relief circuit if required). I suspose if you mounted
a power steering pump (as a converter pump) on vw engine you could do away with the split pump and could full flow the engine.

".... but this impending delivery might suit a Suby! "), I have been talk about semi autos all along.

I'd love to have a Suby in my new baby when he arrives, does anyone do the conversion and can let me know what $$$ I'd be looking at if I supplied
the motor?

I can get a Suby engine for a great price so I'd love to know which engine is best to use, any other parts needed, what's involved, cost to have it
fitted, who could fit it in Melb, etc...
Christofu, I'm not dead serious about it until I know what it'll cost! LOL :P

Type 3's ride like a loungechair on wheels, so comfy, you can cruise in em for hours, my 72 Auto Notch is great. My beetle is being built up to
handle like a go kart, enjoy your new car PBB. Cheers, Damo.

:o you mean, "wait till you experience the outright boredom." Type 3s should have been made with type 4 motors at least. They weigh a tonne so even
a sweet TLE 1600 motor makes them feel underpowered.
Go the subie and come into the 20th century, leave aircooled motors for beetles.
