New oil lines. Check. Oil pressure. Check. Freshly greased pedal assembly. Check.

Oil lines neatly mounted down the side of the car. Next question. Tappet adjustment. Next question. Tools & emergency spares packed. Next question. Eski and camping gear sorted. Next question.

I'm planning to hit the freeway about 12:00 tomorrow for Tammworth, after I baygon the tow bar. That'll be my test drive.

A couple of bottles of beer says Das's oval doesn't make it. I'm not being negative I just think he deserves a couple of beers if it does.

No slicks unfortunately.
Last year slicks worked quite well, but 60,s were still slower than I'd like. Found a bit more power this year, so dont know how these old radials will cut it, but I cant wait to give it a good go, afterall, has to be softer for the tranny.

What Lee?

And slicks don't provide even more traction?

Hi Lee,
some times a radial can be a problem if the drivetrain mountings are inadequate.

The wheel spin that a radial may have,
can cause a lot of vibration and "hop".

This intermittent traction and grip cycle can shock the trans to failure , even in a low power situation.

The only other problem with radials is, if only one wheel spins off the line, or in a burnout.
This can cause damage to the spider gear shafts and thrust plates that retain the side gears.

As long as the engine and trans are mounted firmly,
a radial can work well, by allowing some spin off the line,
which eases the load on the trans.

I was speaking with aaron and his 20B powered Kombi now has 570 hp at the wheels from 3500 rpm right up to 9500.

This is only about 10 more than last years peak numbr,
but at low rpm it is "hundreds" more.

It is going to be fun to watch now he has the quaiffe diff to replace the weak ZF clutches that failed last year.

Just got back from Das' shop.

The oval is still getting assembled, but should make it.
Looks great in new colours.
Plus Rod's "mule" 1915 thrasher engine.

bRAD's "80's Rad-Bug" is all but done.
2110 was upgraded with FK87 and 10.5 comp.
Should wake that sucker up!

Not sure how long the original 1500 tranny will last though.

But it is going to be fun!!

Wow what a crazy time, I just finished work - started at 9am thursday morning (after finishing at 2am that morning), and worked straight through to just after 12 tonight....bloody 36 odd hours straight. The "RAD BUG" is done and oval just needs windows to go in and some tuning but otherwise the hard work was worth it as both Brad and I can drive something again this year and have a few grudge races!

Well my year is only getting worse , first i miss Valla to get my Cruiser on the road so i have a reliable work truck and bugger me if not a week before Warwick the bloody old girl decides that the crank would like to escape , so here i am still at home again doing an engine rebuild.................should of bought a kombi ute i suppose.
Anyway , just been speaking with 11Cab who's up there amongst it and he informs me that it is turning out to be another great event .
Gordo usually known for his big wheelies has fritted wheelie bars this year which resulted in one run of 2 chattered CV"s , which as far as graham knows is the biggest breakage to report.
Our Partner in CVD Dave " DYNO " Avenell is having a great run with his Injected 2442cc Supa Sports Buggy with plenty of wins against fellow buggy nut Pommy John Barrett in his Max FX.
Sorry people thats about all i can tell you but thats how it is this hour at Warwick Raceway .

Till futher reports come to hand Oz Towdster signs out

TO MUCH FUN AT WARWICK

BEN THE APPRENTICE AT WPVW HAS HAD 12 PASSES IN THE SPORTS SEDAN . QUICKEST BEING 7.98 SECS .
CHRIS IN THE FORMULA VEE 1200 HAS HAD 16 PASSES . QUICKEST BEING 10.35 SECS .
I HAVE HAD 1 PASS IN THE SUPERCHARGED 1642 OVAL AT 8.8 SECS AND A HEAD CAME LOOSE . I THEN JUMPED INTO THE SPORTS SEDAN FOR 2 ADDITIONAL PASSES WITH THE QUICKEST BEING 7.81 SECS . ON THAT RUN I LINED UP AGAINST BROTHER ROD IN HIS DRAG BUG BUT HE COULD ONLY MANAGE AN 8.1 SEC PASS . THE POWER OF THE TYPE-4 WAS TOO MUCH FOR RODS AUTOCRAFT . LOL .
DAVE BUTLER HAS RUN 7.2 SECS
AARON IN THE 20B TURBO KOMBI HAS DONE THE BIGGEST WHEELSTAND I HAVE EVER SEEN A KOMBI DO AND FINISHED WITH A 6.8 SEC PASS
PETER PAGE HAS RUN 7.5 SEC IN 'DAK A TAK '
MIKE WALDRON IN THE LMS BUG HAS RUN 6.6 SECS
JUNKA HAS RUN 7.6 SECS
FABION IN THE AUSSIE INCH PINCHER HAS RUN 7.6SECS WITH A NICE WHEELIE
TROY HAS RUN 7.9 SECS IN THE TURBO FASTBACK

THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF QUALITY CARS AND LOW TIMES AT WARWICK THIS YEAR .....
