had to buy the fresh gearbox a friend
that came with some followers
Using all standard/aftermarket subaru clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, starter, seals, etc etc etc
& the main event.... (& i still didnt get to have one of those famous muffins!)
GEARBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
driving all over SEQ in a day was worthwhile i think
get to play with it all tomorrow
looking forward to getting the mounts sorted, itching for fire up day now
still need the wiring, plumbing & fuel system sorted out yet but concentrating on bolting it all together for now
put it this way though, next pay is already spent

You bought a pallet load of plastic wrap with mystery mechanical stuff inside, which was followed by some sort of cooler looking thingy and a laptop
box ???
btw - meant to ask earlier about the shackle on the box... is that somehow involved in the mounting setup, or just to try and make it a bit easier to
handle and shift around ???

sides, thats exactly it! i love empty boxes & used plastic wrap, just going to toss the other bits out
also, boy that sway bar was a toughy, so hard to work out how it goes on :P
for the record, the loom etc is in that box, now i know why later looms cost more to modify, they are so much bigger than earlier ones
shackle was just to move around, now being used as security while working on both it & the engine on the pallet, pics later tonight, dont have my
laptop here (stealing the sisters hehe)
that reminds me, gotta call rod about the rest of the driveline soonish

another day passes, a lil more progress....
JDM 02 STI engine
mounted to the kombi box with all its bits & peices
using a standard 240mm subaru flywheel/clutch etc
same story on the starter motor
think the turbo is going to be moved a few inches away from this at the least
& im going to need me a stainless donut to fix that
turbo part numbers etc somewhere down there
Really wish this could be started right now
axles will end up fairly straight & almost stock lenght
AND! proof that VW & subaru were made for this!

to have or not to have aircon.... that is the question....
the woman reckons it would be horrible without, im having a moment of weakness, should i leave the option to have it there or not....?
actually i think i shall since a/c defrosts windows & such alot quicker than without, failing that, can always leave it out later on.
excuse the thinking out loud

Yes - keep the aircon !!!
Admittedly Jezebel is mainly a race car and has very few creature comforts, so no stereo, carpet, headlining, sound deadening etc.
After driving her to and from work for 3 days this week to give the new gearbox some k's, the only thing I miss from driving my normal modern V8 ute
is the aircon !!!

yeah, definately keeping the a/c now, just means i need to find MORE space somewhere to fit all the associated crap, goodbye what was left of the boot
space up front & any room at all around the box, having a demister that works will be nice, the alternative is a heater element in the glass from
a mob in the uk, stereo is a necessity for my generation sides
maccas carparks here i come, though im getting too old for that crowd
Oh, the cage is inevitable it seems, will have to ask the guy nicely if he would do mine, if i come to mt cotton on sunday ill try have a better look
at yours, or at the next meet drive it there! - provided its not ripped apart for the new toys to go in, jezebel is getting alot of love for christmas
this year.

Mate the air is a definate surely with that water pumper in the back. I've been involved with fitting up a climate control system fully aftermarket
into a wild baja and surprisingly easy once all the stuff has room, so need to plan early.

true true, i think fuel & coolant bits are more important currently though, but yes, will have to nut out how to fit it in, i guess the a/c evens
out the weight front to rear...
hell, why not keep the power steering too
