The engine will be back together next weekend
Still waiting on parts. I did some more porting to
the exhausts and made a bridge in the primary
intakes (idling port)

Dave took a skim off the porsche diff housing
to make it square again. I'll build the box this w/end.

Dave alsow took about 1mm off the exhaust manifold,
now it will seal!! And come on boost quicker.

I havn't built a 20b with my style of bridge port on both primary and secondary. The exhaust port is the bigggest that I've done in that position.
I'm not really chasing any figures at this stage as this will be free power, so any increase is a plus with out adding more heat from the turbo.

The first dyno will be at 16psi to see the changes, then will be set around 18-19psi staying with 98 octane. 800hp would be nice, as long as it's usable.

One day i will use the engine to its potential. With methonal, good ignition and twice the boost!!!
But for now the box is once again way over it's limit.

I know its not vw powerd, so thanks for following the thred. Any questions on rotary engines, always happy to share.
I think they are over looked because of there sound and failure in the eirly stages of production (30years ago)
as aposed to piston engines 80+yrs,with multiple companies refining.

I'll post some pic's as i put it to gether so you get an idea of how simple they are.

Thanks Andrew.

It was a good day, i took home a trophy and $100 for most hp in the (pump fuel 20b turbo class)

I'm heading out to willow bank this week end, if it's not raining. Just running 1/2 track so i don't upset the officials with 10sec pass

This is the first time i'm using the limiter and clutch control, so it feels like i'm starting drag racing all over again.

Heh heh... from what I hear out at Willowbank it's a case of upset the officials and it's your last run of the night anyway !!!

Slightly off topic, and possibly stoking the pot... how many Kombi's have ever run 10's ???

Sorry about that, I've deleted them,,,, stupid wireless net.

Only one run at the drags today.
Safely home with no chutch, just a bit tricky when starting and idleing in 1st is 22kph (poor starter motor)

So, I think I had a good out come, the new rear suspension,(air bag) with the added help of torsion bars, larger tyres, new gear shifter, wheelie bars, clutch management, and using 2 step/antylag.

With the staging limiter set at 6500 and 10psi I left the line with a 1.73 60ft but the clutch kept slipping, then rpm was to high for 2nd. finally found 2nd with more slip.

1/8 8.16 @86mph
1/4 13.21@79.67 mph, never got into 3rd.

With new pucks on the cluth I think I will get the 60ft down better than my pb of 1.52. I'll change the clutch proportional valve i'm happy with wheeli bar hight, air bag pressures, 25psi in the tyres and 2 step 6500rpm start and 9000 shift.

Until next time.

I just watched the vid that bec took and showed me that the wheelie bars were used all through out 1st gear.
Looking back at some old notes (2009) a 1.7 60ft time usually means around 1ft wheel stand.

Got some data from my logger which told me that at using the anty lag set at 6500 it actually climbed to 7200 when as boost increased.
As i lifted the clutch quick as possible the micro switch was set to close to the floor, trigering the ecu to switch to normal program to eirly causing the engine to goto full rpm seeing 10030rpm (limiter) for .41sec's before the clutch started to grab all because of the clutch fluid transfer through the proportioning valve to the hyd throw out bearing.

So all i have to do is moove the micro switch about 5mm.
Alsow saw that there was slip for about 2/3 1st, so will give the clutch fluid less restriction.
This may all change with a new clutch.

The clutch was 3 1/2 years old and about 60 passes at the strip with all my normal road use (including hill starts) and my street testing.

I'm going to look around for different compound pucks which can handle more heat and see if technology can helpout. If theres nothing much different i'm happy to go back to what i had.
