Photos of the oil filter and a recent photo of the engine (still not in it's final colours as I am still fine tuning engine components and sorting the oil/engine cooling issues)...

Well, it doesn't look like I will be ready for Warwick due to the unavailability of some parts from the US.... Dangerous and Rod Penrose are looking after me, shall we say. I will need engine lid standoffs to give you some idea...... :o

It's more the sore elbows and belly from leaning on the front fender and fuel tank.... also never done so much soldering in one hit ever before.....

.... I wasn't able to work on it on the weekend as I was fixing a friends car on Saturday and then working on the rear deck on Sunday, so nothing to report from the weekend just gone.:spin:

Fuse block installed and the majority of original wiring removed but also the loom pulled through the passenger heater channel in a 20mm clear tube conduit... The power cicuit runs through the drivers side heater channel with any wiring required for the sound system.

So you ended up justifying the wiring upgrade to the 'better half' hey Alan?

Looks good mate - time consuming task but well worth it. :tu:

WOW Nice work :tu:

Im curious to know, whether or not you are using a new wiring loom. Or are you creating your own. Where do you source all the differernt coloured wires or do you just use a couple of diif colours. Esentially what I want to know is how you are going about it.

Also are you upgrading eveything to a relay system similar to modern car??

Hope this makes sense, I cant say wiring is my greatest thing in the world, or that I have the most experience init. But I think like Dasdubber has said once done it great! Espically if done properly.

Cheers

Well sligthly off topic but I just stumbled accross this

http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=4367

http://www.painlessperformance.com/

some fairly interesting leads for stardar circuits... but im guessing most of Painlessperformance stuff is for the Engine in the front...

Hi Dero, This wiring project is as a result of Dasdubbers Ragtop project.... I got the complete kit from Watsons Wire Works and it is supplied with all the wires identified every three inches, full sets of drawings for each circuit. Yes, it is upgrading the circuits but I have had to add relays that weren't in the pack but then I have also done a fair few modifications electronically and few other gizmos (shift light, stereo amp, CD player, etc) that require a little extra thought as I don't have any wiring plans for them. :dork:

...fingers crossed for when power is added to the circuits... .... hopefully no gremlins :ninja: :grind:

well after a few weekends of work the front is finally looking a little more organised. Hopefully this weekend it will be done and testing can be carried out as much as possible without the engine in place.

Very neat Alan - nice work! Any advances on the engine? Are you able to divulge the head choice and specs or would you rather keep it a surprise for now? :D

Well I did a heap of work on the car on the weekend and will upload some photos as soon as I can. I finished the front, Dynamat, Felt, carpet all done, engine bay done, firewall in, all wires connected except for the ones to the motor (oil temp, alternator and distributor)..... and installed the rollcage bought from "Cram".

Das, where did you get your rollbar padding from as I now need some.... The cage went in reasonably well... little bit of sweat... bit of puzzle solving but success in the end... will post pictures of that as well.

And the engine..... still waiting for the CNC Wedge ports, 5.7" cromoly race rods and I think we are looking at a 9.5:1 compression ratio, fed by 48IDA's.... that's the plan so far.

Sweet - I'm sure the heads and increased compression will liven the engine up. What cam did you run in the end? I couldn't remember the details (along with valves sizes/springs etc)?

Good to see the cage went in okay - I got my padding from Autobarn at Moss St (slacks creek) but also got some temporary stuff from custom offroad when I needed the blue plate inspection etc (ie. until I got time to get to autobarn after it was all approved).

It was a K-8 cam, Stainless valves, dual springs not sure on the valves sizes in the new heads (44 x 37.5??), Dangerous would know unless there are options.

When you had installed the roll cage and the seats how close was your head to the seat belt mount...... Mines good for a temple hit.... might have to cut it off and try and use the original mounts....

I think my seats sat further forwards, higher and more upright than yours so it wasn't even close to my head from memory.

We never had your cage in brad's oval with seats to assess the positioning either.....would be nice to not headbutt anything like that in an accident! ;)

This is the front area after tying up the loom and putting down some dynamat. Then the underfelt and finally the carpet.....
