Ha! That reminds me of when I had a beetle in England and I'd shaved the door handles. I was worried that the solenoid and/or leaf switch wouldn't
work as it was so cold but what happened was they worked perfectly but because of the lack of door handles I couldn't pull the door open as it was
frozen shut. A screwdriver and chipped paint was the result and when the lights were on the whole of the front of the car glowed

Yep, back when that happened it was probably just anotehr old VW, plenty more where that came from.....
not many other cars could keep driving down the road like that.
