I have not looked at the torque numbers this time.
Their RPM is important but
the amount-number means nothing on these dynos, because I changed the gear ratio.
It was around the 6000 area I think.
Much better with a bit more advance in the cam, but still a couple of degress away from where is should be.
Yes i have no temp gauges, but last time I thought it was "getting a little hot dude", the sump temp was only 70 degrees,
which it never gets that hot at the track.
Ignition timing is the same as before, and ranges between 32 at 6000 and 24 at 8400.
I will see if I can paste a pic of the screen shot.

Dave do you think fuel stand off could have been trapped inside the boxes above your stacks at high rpm's causing an over rich condition ? Mike

X2... I think we need more data like this on AVD, i know all engines and cars/buses are different but we can all learn from each other. Thanks Dave!!

I'm pleased to hear it, but not surprised. Of course, at the track, air flow around the rear of the car will be much dirtier than on the dyno, so it
remains to be seen if the top end gain fully translates into MPH.
Air flow into velocity stacks, trumpets, Nascar ducts, etc. is formed and affected well away from the physical entry point or lip.
Now you just have to convert the valve train to desmodromic to get over 100 at the wheels.
Great progress and, as you point out, it shows the value of the dyno, as you had previously flowed the heads/manifolds with and without the air boxes
without significant difference.

Since the Sydney VW meeting got postponed,
I entered the Sportsman Event at Willowbank on Saturday the 16th.
Car ran leaner than the dyno, so had to tweak it a little each run.
It was over 40 degrees mid afternoon, but cooled to the mid 20's by the time the last runs were done.
The track was awesome.
No personal bests, but some good hard runs anyhow.
Six runs:
10.915 @ 124.17
10.893 @ 124.45
10.752 @ 124.87
10.852 @ 124.90
10.896 @ 124.19
10.787 @ 125.19
1/8 mile numbers were:
6.952 @ 98.96
6.932 @ 98.98
6.824 @ 100.15
6.909 @ 99.41
6.928 @ 98.98
6.851 @ 99.77
Unfortunately I lost my ideal main pill in the grass (or somewhere!)
after the third run,
and in the 4th run, I was trying a bit richer as the sun went down.
So ended up trying a leaner jet,(5th pass) and then a richer jet,(sixth pass), which was obviously a comprimise looking at the 1/8 mile MPH's.
Sixty foot times were:
1.494
1.487
1.450
1.471
1.487
1.456
The reaction times,
were all in the .0 range except the lolly pops.

Decided to use my "blower" crank and rods while I can find some time to make a new crank.
It is a little heavy, but has only 84 NA runs on it from new.
The old crank was a second hand ex-speedway item and i put 95 runs and 84 dyno pulls on it in nearly 11 years.

Big job ahead.
What other bits will you have to " remanufacture" to accommodate the bigger stroke?

haha, yeah the only thing i WONT change will be the heads and pistons.
Everything from head studs and pushrods, and even stuff like the cables,
since the block this crank fits into, has a different engine plate and flywheel.

That is the blower crank.
That is equal to about 70mm mains and 56mm rod journals.
The original crank was 60mm mains
(like a type 4) and 2.1"(about 54mm) big end journals.

Hi Daimo, not exactly a NEW engine since only the rings and pushrods are new, ha-ha!.
This will do though, until I can make some time for a new crankshaft.
This is basically my old blower engine with the newer cam, heads and pistons.
I also made up a box arrangement for the intake, to reduce the turbulance.
Decided against any ducting to the box until my new manifolds are done.

Looks cool DB... could almost put a little conveyor in it to act as a warming oven !!!
Doesn't seem to have anywhere for your filters to fit, or do you think just the box will be good enough to keep the stones at bay ???
Also curious on the turbulence side of things... what would be the impact of running ducting directly from the top of the stack up to the side windows
like have seen on some cars ???
