why does it all happen at once!:cry now my engine decided to die about 2 Kms from my house about half an hour ago......it all of a sudden started
running like a dog.....like on 1 and a half cylinders i pulled over.....checked leads and basic stuff....started....started ok jumpy weird
accelleration and less power...then changed to second.....no acceleration just like a huge flat spot....limped down the hill to the end of my road and
walked home swearing......im supposed to be at work at 4pm and i have no car to drive the volksie guy up the road is waiting for his mate so he cant
leave his place till he gets there so he said to ring him at about 12pm and if his mate is there he will come have a look i hope its something
stupid.....it ran fine for the hour long trip on the highway home this afternoon and now it just decides to call it quits! this engine was rebuilt
only about a year ago......why does this all happen to me!:cry..........at least ive got my health.....i wonder how long that will last
oh by the way thanks for posting that stuff moose youre a champion.........but i dont think ill need the brakes untill i get get the car to a speed
where i need to stop.

Aaah, carbies. I *think* that they've been the root cause of all of the problems I've had with my bus. Problems which I haven't encountered for a
while, and hopefully have been cured.
Glad to hear it was simple anthiron. Chalk it up as a learning experience...

hmm ok....drained carbie bowl, replaced fuel filter and fuel line to the fuel pump (when i drained this line a bit of crap came out so now from the
tunnel to the carbie is all new fuel line) went to start the car..........starter motor kicks over but there is nothing from the engine at
all.....doesnt even spluttter......the filter is getting fuel because u can see it through the plastic (and yes it is in the right way) the carbie
bowl is also getting fuel as i took the top off the carb to see if the seat valve was blocked or something but it all looks good and the bowl is about
half full.......tried to start it again......STILL NOTHING!

yeah i know....im just probobly paranoid at the moment but it definatly isnt running like it was. ill pull the plugs and stuff.....it sounds like the
timing or something.......could the engine being robbed of fuel and still trying to run have put the timing out of wack? does anyone know?

to use one) so i cant do the timing.....its miss firing a bit which leads me to timing. all the leads look fine.

hey nick, your points could be worn or the gap setting wrong, your condensor could be dodgey, timing shouldn't go out from carbi playing up. Check
your rotor button and distributor cap, if after a tune and checking all of these, it may be your coil... I find with mine, moisture can build up when
its been raining, that can affect it too sometimes..... time to grab the
idiots manual and do a tune up |

The mobile mechanic has just left having done major surgery on the end of my crank (haha - erm, haha). Total cost $165 (the mechanic that is).
The bolt is out, and the crank has been bored out and rethreaded. Then the Woodruff key doesn't fit. Kept sliding out and getting stuck in the oil
seal. Bastard! The Mech reckons that it's probably a special Woodruff to deal with the taper on the crank end. Sound reasonable?

its all a learning process mate ive been through similar things mate, but the main point is not to repeat our mistakes. and just to make your day my
old man thought that it would have cost about that when he first heard about it. so chin up and keep heading forward, which i think is that way or is
it the other way. i dont know i give up im confused.
