Inner panel all welded and just needs dressing now.

Coupla patches left on the outer skin and then clean up, zinc prime and pop back together again :)

And to nearly finish things off we have the inner panel dressed and zinc primered...

Then the inside of the outer skin cleaned up and zinc primered...

So long as it's high zinc content then you can weld thru it but unlike a true weld thru primer it may not be as temperature stable. I've never checked but TBH I've not noticed it bubble and peel from the heat generated by welding :)

Soaked it in some degreaser for a while.. got all sorts of goo and flakey stuff floating on the top :blush:

When i put the carby in, the water was clear.. check out the colour now!

Also made up a manifold block-off plate

Thanks mate,

When i bought it, it had been sitting for 2 years, and a year before that it had been sitting for 10 years!!

Where all the rust is kinda backs up that statement! :)

Paint thinners and an old toothbrush or brass wire brush will give the carb body a nice clean up if you wish to make it look like new.

Plugs are nice and sooty so mixture of the carb is rather rich. See if you can find an exploded view of the carb online so you can find the idle, main, air jets and emulsion tube.

will give us an idea which jet or jets are on the large side :)
