Were you able to test drive the car before Jim Hows the gearbox sounds only rebuild if its making crunchy noises

Nah, apparently it is rooted, but I am putting Type 3 rear end in anyway...
Thats why this piece is important. It will bolt from the t2 box to the t3 box, and make it bolt straight in.. he he .. thats the theory anyway..

You have shown people how a small hole (match heads size) can blow out into a full resto panel weld in job.
I always try to explain to people that the "original" vehicle with only a couple of bubbles of rust may not be what they really have.

Hey Jim
When Andrew did the welding for my 57 we pushed the bus over on its side it made it a hell of a lot easier to do the sills, jacking points, center chassis sections etc.
Wait till you start using the grinder and you are lying underneath!!!!

We removed everything, front beam, engine, box etc.
And then we put the body on 4 tyres , one each side and front and back, then we put a sprung mattress next to one side and just slowly pushed, making sure it went very slow. We then supported it on the gutter with a tyre,
Made the whole job of welding and then painting a hell of a lot easier.
I have some photos but my scanner is shagged.
