A liitle fact - Max HP figures are great for impressing teenage boys, but toque is what accelerates a car.

These figures are great for streetable engines, but if we were to start to look at the wilder side torque figures would be much more impressive (within reason - you've always got to look at where the torque is made: a workmate has some torque figures for his WRX [properly documented,] that would boggle your mind - he actually had a better turbo fitted after they were explained to him.)

hey guys at the moment i am bulidings
my 1776 witch the guy buliding it said
i have the oppition to run 48ida's
and if i do so i will run a 14.8 with about 86 hp@wheels this is achevied by counter weighted crank,fully balnened,grafite coated pistons,enagle 125 cam,straight cut cam gears,puter lifters,berg double vavle springs ,38 inlet ,stock exaust,1/12
turned extrotors,cromoloy pushrods,8 dowlled fly wheel
not trying to show off just want to compare:bounce

Ovalglen, they actually replaced the pedal assembly and spent about 3 hours mucking about with the cable run.

Dougie spent all of yesterday fixing Bel's inlet manifold and getting things right on her 36hp engine. He's found it a learning curve, never worked on the old manifolds before. Well he's very much into modifying so the whole thing was a bit of a new experience, keeping something stock:):o:kiss

1776 Comparo


Slik68...

Here's a comparo for you....

My little 1776 is as follows...

Demello 69 CW Crank. 9lbs FW. Stock clutch. Stock matched rods. CIMA?/MAHLE 90.5 P&C's. Engle 120 Cam (No straight cuts!). Balanced from Clutch to pulley & piston to piston. Shimo Mod 044 heads (40x35.5 I think!) Semi hemi'ed with WBX size exhaust ports & LARGE intakes matched to manifolds. Dual 40mm Dells. Phoenix merged extractor with a FORD Falcon resonator under the right guard. BERG Pulley (stock dia). Home brewed valve train with BERG adjusters. And a BERG sump & Full Flow pump. OBERG filter.....We built this little donk back in '94 and she's still doing fine. The best my bug has run is a 14.8 with a standard (TIII) transaxle (consitent low 15's still!). I have travelled across OZ 3 times, raced in classic rally's, sprints, hillclimbs and autocana's too....Never dyno'ed it, but I reckon it must be close to 100hp at the flywheel. This old girl hasn't let me done yet!
