I am an elderly VW Warwick enthusiast with a standard 71 type 3 road car. I have only ever been a spectator & reallly enjoy the street parade together with the friendliness of the other owners that I have spoken to.

This forum, which I regularly read is always enjoyable & I look forward to the humour & the friendly rivalry that is often displayed. The pushbike feature race had me laughing.

I remember Hounddog years ago & I've seen Rod Penrose's car go & talked to Rod some time back at Warwick. Dak A Dak obviously doesn't appreciate the importance of good humoiur as life is not always about THE "bluddy racing".

Hey Ferdinand!!

Love your spirit and interest.
Dak-a-tak isn't seriously against the humour, Pete just wants to be sure that they get on with the serious stuff while they are having a joke on the side.

Looking forward to Warwick

Another shot from the rear.....
Not quite sure about the significance(sp?) of the pink pram.
Perhaps Ross can fill us in.

Dear Dave....the pink pram is the grandaughter's.I brought it home for a minor repair. It will be ready for Warwick as
well. I am thinking about using it in the main feature race between "Rocketman"..Rod Penrose & myself. I am undecided how much start to give him with it yet. !!!! Westi previously has mentioned-24/4/2009... about Pagey & a pink shirt...hope Pete doesn't take a liking to this pram as it is only on loan.

Looking good Ross. Talking about Warwick today at Klubfest and if everyone turns up who says they are then the top will certainly be full of some very quick cars.

My guess is that if you can't run 7.30 or quicker then you will be spectating with the rest of us which aint so bad.....

Dear Brennden..do you mean 7.3 secs with the pink pram?? The car used to do 6.88 to the eighth previuously..with a 100 less hp.Dangerous has calculated with air flow etc a 6.06 eighth at 113mph or 182 Ks & a 9.6 @138 to the 1/4...I am a much older pilot than before..I hope fear does not encourage me to fit an ejection seat !!!

Ross the majority of the top 8 from the last 3 years have been running around the 7-7.50 mark apart from Wally Penboss and Mike Waldron who are in the 6's. My guess is this year if you aren't running well under 7.30's you aint gonna make it!!

Nice to see this beast back Ross.
So many hours, $$$ and to not lose the passion after so long......very well done.
This baby should back into the 6's no stress, and my guess would be very consistent too.
My money is on a Dave B v's Ross final?

Dear Marcus...thank you. The work & machining in this custom engine proved an enormous task & at no stage was I about to give in.One of my maim team members Gary Heywood witnessed the 5 & 1/2 year operation. He watched me assemble this mother, helped me take it 300Ks to the dyno, assisted on engine adapting to the dyno & of course was present whilst I modified runner lengths & tuning adjustments.Gary was also present when I dismantled/ inspected & reassembled the engine after the dyno torture..He made the rear wing, the plugs for the moulds for the air intake scoops & the air boxes. He has made variuos parts at my request whilst I have been busy running my repair shop...he is familiar with the whole deal & I am extremely grateful foir his dedication. He is a carpenter..they have slightly different tolerances to mechanics..I kept a close eye though.
Off that now..I spoke to Peter Keegan earlier tonight..Pete would be the most notorious VW drag racer 10.2 @135mph ..early 1970s.We have offered him a drive in my car or dangerous Dave Butler's (which he used to own nearly 20 years ago).Pete is a little apprehensive about doing this for fear of damage however do not expect an all out display...just enjoy a good trip down memory lane...Regards-Ross & thanks Keegs.

Ross we would love to have you at the Dyno Day then at the TNT afterwards at Willowbank. You will have no shortage of helpers that's for sure. I'd be happy to lend a hand myself as it has been a long time since I have seen your car run!!

If you are interested give myself or Pagey a call. Our numbers are in the first post.

cheers Brennden

Dear Brennden..many thanks for your anticipated support. However the engine has been extensively dynoed & optimised.Owing to the amount of
naturally aspirated mumbo that this unit delivers I wish to conservatively restrict it to racing purposes only.If anything needs performance enhancement it is the geriatric who is going to operate it !!. Dangerous may make me some of his homemade muffins --they'll add spark..Cheers-Ross.
