The jetting currently is exactly how Nick had....
F2 Etubes
210/180 Mains
150 Airs
40 Pumpjets
45 F8 Idles
Gonna try something along these lines as a mate in the US has this in his car (which is virtually the same spec as mine)...
F11 Etubes (with turbo mods)
170 -/+ Mains
200 Airs
50 pump jets
55 F8 Idles
I have also purchased a some other jets to give me something to play with....
I'm sure that once I have the LC-1 hooked up to my Megajolt datalogging software, I'll be able to see what's really going on.

Top stuff Simon. Sounds very mellow. When you started it in the vid I didn't think it fired until I noticed the tach.
How's the throttle reponse?

Thanks Stanley.... Glad you like it.... Big props must go to you for the inspiration to get this going... The idea was always there to built it 'one
day', but I needed someone to kick me in arse....
In that vid I was still having issues with the carb linkage, and the ignition map, so it was a little lazy.... It feels quite strong off the line,
similar to how it was BB (before boost)..... I have been working the map these past days and it's really starting to come on now.... I feel there is
room for more advance in the lower/cruising area of the map which should help with the low end response.... In the top (over 100kpa) the boost really
starts up... Can't wait to get the fuelling under control.... I should feel a lot more boost down low and the mid range will pick up also when that
lot comes together....
The POS feels pretty strong as it is, But I'm looking forward to getting it on a dyno so I can work the maps and fuel further....
Then its time for the track!

Been working on the map these past days....
And took the ol'girl out for a spin.... Even got some dataloging done (now that I have a new battery in the laptop) for the first time.... I must say
I'm mighty impressed with it all....
Anybody have a clue how to calculate kpa to psi?.... I'm sure I read it somewhere, but I can't find it now.... My datalog from last night saw
148kpa.... That's 21psi!!!!..... That can't be right?
Fitted the new 'e' tubes this morning and dropped the main jets down to 170's.... Made a huge difference!.... Much cleaner in progression, no more
'fuel' smell in the cabin and no more smokin' (from the tailpipe) when the hammer drops.... Seems to be running cooler too.... It's 30ยบ out right
now and I just got back from a long drive.... Cool as.... The manifold is running too cool actually.... Condensation on the carb and intake!!!!.....
It's pulls very strongly and seems quite happy.... The 'hunting' I was experiencing at 2800-3000rpm is all but gone and it pulls very clean from
there.... But there still is some problems.... The idle is a little erratic... And the fuel pressure fluctuates from 1.5psi to 4psi????.... Fuel pump
rpm fluctuates also????.... Gonna fit the LC-1 in the next few days, then I'll figure out how to hook the MJLJ up to the LC-1, then I can get a good
look at my jetting and mixtures....
Man what a learning curve!!!

Don't forget to subtract your atmospheric pressure from that figure. That will be your boost :-)

As soon as the dyno session is done... Working on fitting the AFR meter and boost gauge right now... Jets selections are on the way.... Once all is in
my hand and school is under control, I'll be booking the POS in for a little dyno lovin'!

Ok.... So yesterday was the first real 'daily driver' test for the POS't in its new guise.... I drove the ol'girl around all day.... Breaky in
Freo, odd jobs around O'Connor and Willeton, toolin' around the hood, freeway driving to the city, then on to a mates sign shop in Ozzy Park.....
After a couple of beers and some light conversation, I headed out to Alfred's (a late night burger spot) via the suburbs, to hang out with some local
dubbers...
I can say the car went pretty well all day.... Rev'ed a little high on the freeway stuff, but that was to be expected given the ratio's and final
drive I've got in the there.... The ride is ok.... But needs more work up front (tight nolathane bushes).... The backend sits well on the road untill
you really get into it.... But after Alfred's things started to get a little rough....
It all started with the turn of the key.... The car didn't start first go.... Like it normally does... Hmmm..... I get it going on the third try and
the engine settles down pretty well.... I gently cruise out.... Heading down the road, the car stumbles and misses in second at the lights as I roll
through.... Hmmmm..... Engine seems a little noisy (er!) too...... Hmmmm..... So I pull into the servo up the road..... Check the fuel.... Plenty
there.... Check the fuel pressure.... A little high (the reg is shit!, must change it).... But ok..... Then I checked the carb and manifold..... They
are freezing cold!
No wonder it was running rough.... The fuel vapor is causing condensation to build up, which in turn is killing the suspension of the gasses and
making the fuel vapors slow down.... Engine runs lean, then super rich, then lean, the rich.... The fuel is losing velocity, it stalls inside the
intake, which creates puddles of fuel, which then causes the rich/lean phenomenon.... There's nothing for it.... I have to drive home the way it is
and hope for the best....
The drive down the Tonkin Hwy is a little sketchy to say the least.... The car is making good power, but as I said before, the engine revs very high
at highway speeds.... With solid mounts its not a lot of fun in the car I can tell you.... And on the Tonkin its even worse.... That road is so damn
rough!!!!!.... I need a taller R&P and taller rear tyres anyway, but the lesson learned here is the that car is perfect for what it was built
for....
Drag Racing!
Fitting the AFR and boost gauges right now.... Making up a gauge cluster that will fit infront of the steering wheel on either side of the speedo...
Made a nice little LED shiftlight (no tacho) to mount there also.... Can't wait for the jets to get here.... I reckon the pumpjets need to go up one
size, so I can wind the correctors back down a little.... I think my airs need to go up a little too on what I have now.... Jetting is getting better
all the time, but the Innovate LC-1 will tell me the truth...
Stay tuned!

Seeing as you have half the required setup already for an injection conversion your not thinking of going down that route with a megasquirt? Gut the
sidedraft and use as a throttle body. Keep the old school look with no puddling.

I know what you mean about solid mounts and noise. I carry ear plugs in my car now and the kids wear muffs when the top is on. Seems like overkill,
but it has to be over 100db on the freeway at least.
What are you going to do to stop the icing up?

The thought has crossed my mind.... I have a MSIIv3 all assembled and ready to go in my Ragtop.... Have been thinking I could just chuck it on the POS
instead.... Though I'd prolly go blow-through and intercooled if I did....

Thinking about welding an oil gallery to the DCOE manifold and routing hardline from the oil pump up to it... Just not too sure how to do it....
Thought I could also possibly 'T' off the turbo oil feed, but I think the oil needs to circulate to work effectively... Another idea was to make a
bypass manifold to fit under the OEM oil cooler and run lines from there... I'd be interested to hear anyone ideas on this....
Or I could just go blow-through and be done with it....

Ive seen quite a lot of draw through manifolds with the heating passages cast in. Probably be able to pick one up on ebay etc. Was the T section under
the turbo icy as well?

Didn't check the "T" manifold..... Hmmmm?..... As the DCOE manifold I have is a custom made item I got from Nick, its a wee bit special.... Plus I
have modified it for the purpose.... It now has a flange that bolts directly to the turbo intake flange.... I think adding a gallery under the
manifold is the best option in my case.... But where to route the oil lines from is the problem?

it's humid as all get out over here at the mo, what was the weather like that night? was it cool and humid? I'm just trying to get a picture. BTW,
someone on STF mentioned something the other day to stop carbs icing up. Some sort of chemical. I'll try and remember what it was.
I've posted the qu here.

see what comes up... but I have to say, blow through does seem like a good idea to me too.

Are you running external oil lines? Maybe just try wrapping some copper pipe around the manifold as a quick and easy test setup then TIG something
nice up if it works. Another crazy thought is to rig up some sort of exhaust routing around the manifold, like a stock setup. Would work from cold a
lot quicker.
Are you running a decklid? Just curious how it all fits under there, Im thinking about building a similar setup, injected though.

I do have braided lines running to my OBerg, but the idea of running lines from there across the engine to the carb doesn't really appeal....
But I have been thinking of something else....
See the two gallery boss' on the OEM offset adapter? Maybe I could tap the feed one of these and run lines from there to the manifold and back again
to make the circuit? Seems a little OTT really.... Its a drag/streetcar really.... Not gonna be doing huge miles and rarely at night.... Hmmmmm.....

Maybe a little electric blanket around the manifold, I saw something similar in an english vw mag years ago, a bit like a Nitrous bottle blanket, you
could switch it off as well. Sounds silly but might work? Or you could just harden up a bit.

Sounds crazy for a hp machine, but a warm air pickup for the carb intake might be simple enough to use only when you need to and quick and easy to
try.

Ok.... As some of you may be aware....
I get back from Portland all inspired to take my car for a spin.... All is going well for a couple of days, then BAM!.... A cop pulls me over and I
get a nice little 'defect notice' applied to the windscreen of the POS....
And so it begins.... The journey on which I must (one again) travel....
The shed was cleared out of all the antiques and VW mags today.... So the POS't made it back in for the first time in a few months....
Good to finally have it under cover once more....
Also got these babies out of storage....
The front end is now up in the air, the ERCO's are off, the tank is out and the steering is disconnected.... Tomorrow morning the 4" frontend will
be out and the 2" will go back in with OG spindles... Brakes back on closely followed by the smoothies on 165's.... Need to find some more stock
lugnuts.... Or maybe I can fit those snappy chromed ones I have in stock?.....
Hmmmm......

These guy's- sorry cop's have a sign for the inspectors....assh0les....nothing better to do.
Maybe that sticker just looks like it's on an angle, hell it nearly covers the whole screen, maybe you could move it saying it was unsafe to drive
home like that.
Probably miles from your mind atm, but a warm air intake can come from your rear breastplate and drag in old cooling air and a bit of heat from the
exhaust, similar to the stock location behind cyl #2.
Hope the stocker build goes without a hitch.
