I'm not stalking anyone! haha. Dave picked up a few bits and pieces from my place today, and said he dropped off the box for its journey back to Wagga.

Tell me Simon, are those gearbox mounts the same as L bug mounts? Any idea?? (yeah... I have no idea what type to get :( )

The front mount would be.
Don't think the rear mounts are... could be wrong.
Several people have told me not to get Urethane mounts unless it is a race car (too noisy)

Its scary to think that I'm 8k out of pocket for the engine and gearbox :spin:

Yeah alot quicker than it took to get it up there
Btw, was reading the axle swap article in latest magazine thinking to myself "This is pretty handy for me atm"
Then I look who wrote it :tu:
Will that method be the same for my late model case?
Is it important that I measure clearance for fulcrum plates and axle tube axial clearance?

Actually that WAS good timing!

Just check what it is with the feeler guage,
and record the measurement for future reference.
Give me a call if you want, or are not sure.
I always put plenty of anti-seize or assembly lube on the spade of the axle and fulcrums.

Well after half an hour trying to get the front mount to lock in,
my bro took the front mount off to find it was bent
After we fixed that went in like a glove :)

lol doubt it Mick, but might take 2 weeks off work and drive up with family in torago. Don't think I could handle 14 hours driving the beetle..

Barry: Was going to change to earlier stronger style, but my cradle was in good condition so I didn't bother. Should be fine for now..

Hmm think you are meant to put them at 10 or 2 oclock. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, can someone please confirm that I have this side bolted up properly. Wasn't sure if bumpstop was in correct postion and couldn't find a picture anywhere.
Do my rear mount bolts need to be cut down to clear the flywheel?

those studs do look a bit long, are they stock vw parts.
just measure the flywheel and see if there is enough room so the ring gear don't hit.
if the bump rubber is mounted under the bump stop on the upper part of suspension it should be rite.
