What a great weekend - will give some more input when I recover a bit of sleep! Congrats to Dave for his win, along with all other winners of the
different classes.....and well done to Craig/volunteers/organisers for such a great event. Also well done to competitors for supporting the event!
Not such a great weekend for me as the oval made it there but didn't make it down the strip - dizzy probs on saturday (was intermittently jumping out
of the drive slot), then siezed Rod's engine on the start line of first run this morning (sorry Rod - didn't even to give a caining before braking
it which was disappointing!).
We got Brad's "RAD BUG" (a tribute to the 80's!) there though which was cool considering it looked like this around 3 weeks ago and 95% of work
was done after hours

Best pass was 9.1 wiht lots of wheel hop and spin, should be in the 8's on the 1/8 next time around. Thanks to Dave for all his help with the 2110
engine.

Troy's beast in the background - was great to see it run 8.60's without any probs!

So many highlights, so tired....well done again to everyone who attended/raced/organised etc!
Al

Try this conversion to estimate your possible 1/4 mile ET and speed.
http://www.wallaceracing.com/8th-quarter.php
some quick examples :
10 seconds = 15.6 quarter mile
9 seconds = 14.0 quarter
8 seconds = 12.55
7 seconds = 11.02

Top marks.
Well done Craig, your helpers and all the officials. The event was well run and full on fun from Friday to the last thing Sunday.
VW Warwick goes from great to greater each year. In my mind the efforts of the competitors lifted the event up a few pegs this year. Here's why this
event stood out from Portland and the 2 previous Warwicks;
1. More high quality purpose-built drag cars running 6 and 7 second passes. They're not only great to watch but to look at in the pits, due to the
engineering skill, creativity and attention to detail they display.
2. Very few breakages. The cars are more reliable and there are less oil-downs and more racing. There was 469 passes on Saturday afternoon!
3. The cars are not only more reliable they're faster. The cars run down the strip stronger and with cleaner revving engines. There was less coughing
and spluttering; particularly from a certain VWMA rat drag car! I think some of the street cars were getting into the 8s.
4. The more the merrier. There were lots of people, most of whom know each other, or have known each other for years and its a very friendly
atmostphere.
The oval sounded as sweet on the way into Sydney as it did on the way out of it. It ran the same 9.7s @ 70 MPH it has for the past 2 years. The 2.1
60ft times make the times a little leisurely because I can't bring myself to do a burnout.
The only trouble was a noisy fan which was solved by the combined hangover wisdom Leigh, Boris & Larry.
Bring on 2009, 2010.......!

A big thumbs up from me, what a great weekend.
Started with a leisurly cruise up the New England from Tamworth with CT and his awesome oval man that car gets some looks.
Met Larry and Simon at the track on Friday, drinks and lots of laughs.
Saturday car went well then fouled plugs late in day. A quick plug change before we ran out of light. (thanks Larry )
Sunday car went like a dream all day,
Dialed in a 8.80
Run 1, 8.97 @ 78mph
Run 2, 8.84 @ 78mph
Run 3, 8.81 @ 77mph
Run 4, 8.75 @ 78mph
Dialed in 8.75 for the final as the car was now really on song.
Final, 8.77 @ 73mph (lifted as not to break out) took the win.
What a great finish to a awesome weekend ,thanks to all for a memorable time. See you next year.
Cheers Col

Congratulations on the win Col.
We almost had 2 roundy roundy racers in the final! The field was huge. Craig said it would be split into ET1 and ET2 next year, which is a good
idea.
Your car sounds great (without the stinger).
It was interesting that the car could run beautifully in one run and then crap in the next, then foul the plugs with all that MSD firepower.
You might have to give your battery a bit of thought next year because the MSD sucks juice and the small pulley doesn't let the generator spin up
enough to put it back in. I think some solar panels on the roof would do the trick. Your car's black, nobody would notice.

What a weekend... sensational!!
Again congratulations to Craig and his team! I read on another thread that "vw drag racing is going off" - which I believe is largely due to Craig
and his endeavours with this event (plus the magazine and Portland), as I for one am hoping not to be sitting on the sideline next year.
