Almost Finished

I have been building a car to compete at this event for the last 4 weeks and am almost done .This has been a ground up rebuild and I will be out testing this weekend and if all goes well should be fun next week .I will keep an eye out for all of those Mack Trucks this time . I am not a would be racer and support the vw scene no matter what . To claim to have so much hp and to have a so called good record of driving skills I would have thought Torrens would have been the first person to have entered . Maybe he is frightened off by the competition of other good drivers and cars , ROD.

Hi

Gees that looks good, glad you saw the light and went with the most aerodynamic model bug.

Take it easy with the testing, plenty of time at the track to go hard.

May the struts be with you,
Steve.

Guys, you're killing the romance in here.

Going to be doing some cross posting with this one, but one last request.

If you havent already got a CAMS licence, you should bring your completed form along to the event, along with CASH PAYMENT.

Sending it off to CAMS now wont give them enough time to turn it around and post it out to you. If you have already sent it in, and havent got it back by next Thursday, ring CAMS member services and ask them to fax you a confirmation.

The early entry fee cuts off on the 16th technically, then goes up to $180.

Could you send your entry in with anything you dont know left blank. If you're fair dinkum and let me know your entry is in the mail before then, we can let it slide. Anything postmarked after Monday will be bad luck. This is not to be an arse, but it helps us plan for the day better if we know the numbers. Cars need to be put into classes, allocated timers, placed into colour groups and running orders. The more we do on Sunday morning, the more it eats into your track time.

If you are going to leave it and pay on the morning of the event, it will be CASH ONLY.

This is to stop unscrupulous people cancelling their cheques after they have had their fun. A regular thing unfortunately.

Rod.........what a big disappointment to do that to a racecar ie vw versus Mack. However when you get sick of trimming cars you had better come & work for me.In between eating pies I do not know how you can physically build a car in such short time...you'll have btter luck with this one.By the way you have got more than I will ever have as I wouldn't pick a fight with a Mack...good on you for having a real go !!!

Dave's at a committee meeting. But he is running his avatar. Its 1916, you should at least come and watch it. Will be interesting to see if Dave can race when he has to turn the wheel. Only ever seen him do straight lines.

Just got my CAMS license tonight, yay, didn't take long at all. Can I email and direct deposit the entry to speed it up?

Also is there any track insurance you can get for the day? I plan to enter my near new wrx and although i won't be doing anything stupid and be cautious would hate something to happen. Otherwise I could still enter my subie powered Rat buggy (in current issue of VWMA) which i'm towing down to enter into the show on Sunday, but it handles like a boat which is why the wrx is more inviting...

Hey Dave I know the reason why you can only go in straight lines is because you have a big beer belly and cant turn the steering wheel lol :lol::lol:

I would love to be there but unfortnately my car is in 1000 different bits and as you can see from the pictures its missing a couple of the vital things to make it go forwards. Plus there is nothing for me to sit on (apart from milk crate), steering the thing, strap me in, stop me, protect me if I crash or stop the wind from getting in my hair.... Pretty much all there is is a body shell in one part of my shed and every thing else stacked up against the other side.

I was talking to Greg Ward the other day and he too would also like to be there but he is in China at the moment on work and will not be back until June. So worst luck for him. ..

It looks like you are going to have a really good event. Wish I was there racing.

BTW Rod, thats a fine looking motor car. Nice work

so its a dyno skank is it ??

how long does it take to fit a new clutch cable ??

And I'm sure a hillclimb racer that lives up your way would lend you some tyres, considering they have new ones for nearly every state round  !!!

Excuses, Excuses :fakesniff:

Just stirring Daimo, hope you make it

no, it's done 34000km

not long, if you have one

tyres too soft for a long trip

........but if it's that what it takes, YEP, i'll do it, no excuses!!.........see you there:lol:

anyways...there are plenty of reasons for wanting the race car there like, the amount of seat time so i can then start picking off hillclimbs i can make it to, Zane Unwin will be second driver and the track will suit 260HP and TALL gearing down to the ground!!!!!!!!!!....so the notch was picked up this arvo, I didn't offer any explanation, just took it away so at least i could do the final checks and sorting........still aiming for paint tho, even if it's done with a toilet brush

fun fun fun.......all about the fun and great people that make the effort to be there, entrants, organisers, helpers, pit crew and spectators alike......can't wait to catch up with everyone again

ROD, awsome effort, looks great :!:

who else is doing what?
