Anybody know how many cars competed over the weekend? Who won other classes other than top 8?

Yeah, a great weekend !!
It was nice to meet / catch up with all you intersate guys (and a couple of Vic's that I don't see that often these days!)I take my hat off to you interstate guys who made the effort to tow your cars down...It's such a long way to come but no one was complaining... even those that broke things still had smiles on their faces ( at least the ones I saw did!).
I was a bit dissapointed about breaking an axle, but that racing, and these things happen.....But I really don't care about that at the moment because my daughter was born today!!
Bring on next year Craig! (please)

Yes, very good timing!!! Everything worked out as planned...Except the part about me breaking an axle....(I don't remember planning that!)

This is kid #2, so we are allready having some great family time.(ie. VW family time of coarse!). I am lucky that I perfected my VW drag racing brainwashing skills on the first one, so this one should be a piece of cake.....

Congratulations to Mark on the birth of his daughter. It's good to know there is a car reference in her naming.

Thanks to Craig and South Coast Raceway for organising a great weekend. We all had a great deal of fun.

It's great to go to an event that everyone pitches in to help you race. Thanks to all those who offered help from changing over pro-flo fuel fittings, to a replacement gearbox!

It was meeting and swapping ideas at the event, and the social aspects that made the weekend. It was great to catch up with the Volks Enthuasiasts crew from SA on Sunday night. I think that Pizza place will be resting until next year from that night.

Cheers, (with Volksbrew)

bloody heel its a LOOOOOOOOng way from Sydney 15 hours even further from Brissy

But a great weekend

the Vintage car ran a best time of 7.3 @ 97mph and we had 6 runs in all

unfortunatly we broke 1st gear in the 091 Kombi gearbox fitted with Albins gears the 1st gear shatered and jamed the drive train snapping the input shaft

Rod Penrose had a spare box 091 which we fitted up on the saturday afternoon and then managed to strip the 2nd gear on the first run on the sunday

Hi everybody ....home at last.

Did anyone say already it's a bloody long way to Portland!!!!

Had a fantastic weekend and the road trip was awsome, didn't even want to stop as I think I became a hiway junky :-)

There's too much to say right now and I'm glad Daimo has already been putting up our vids as it would take me for ever.

Thanks first of all have to go to Craig and all the organisers and track officials for putting on such a fun event. The officials were all very friendly and helpfull and certainly all put in a big effort.

Secondly a huge thankyou to Custom Vee Dub and Vintage Vee Dub Supplies. Both these businesses put up some sponsorship money for me to get the Hillbilly Racer down to Portland and back at very short notice, like last Sunday, and if it wasn't for their unquestioning support I would have been a passenger for the trip with no race car, and I can tell you being classified as Craig Hughes' wife is something I can do without...(poor Jamie).

The Hillbilly Racer had a fine weekend and held his head up high, a bit of sorting on Friday night and Saturday arvo as the track down there was as sticky as I've seen in a long while, and we were ready to tackle the traction and inconsistency of this little track. We had 15 passes over the weekend and managed to put down our best pass of 8.2 @ 84.8 mph and a 1.74 60 ft (to be confirmed as the time slips are still in the glovebox).

Cheers All
Matt

Fantastic weekend guys. Thanks to Craig, the guys from South Coast RW and many others who put in the work to make this excellent event happen. Was really good to put a few more faces to names too. Was bloody stoked and surprized to end up in the final in the fastest 8 with Comic Book Guy Heh heh (his name is Andrew)
Good to hear that everyone is getting back home all safe. Looking forward to the next one.

Glad you made it back safe and sound Matt.... Spoke to Rodney today and he's still on a huge high from the weekend too!... Haven't heard from the SA crew yet, but I'm sure the news will be similar.... All credit to Craig...

Maybe see you lot at the next one!:tu:
