valla cant wait its my first year with my car, crusing down thursday from the gold coast, will just be watching the lap dash.
Aaron is thinking about taking the kombi 20b around again this year, but for the cams license he needs to get a signature from a car club associated
with racing. so he is looking into it.

hi was wondering how to tell if a rotary engine is stuffed or not without pulling it apart. My mate has a series 4(I think) rx7 I can buy for $200. As
far as I know the engine does not start. It would be to go in to a notchback. How much did your conversion cost comparitavely to a subaru transplant

hi,
If you can turn it over with a starter motor, use a compression tester. when doing this keep the throttle wide open and take out only 1 leading spark
plug,
insert gauge and KEEP FINGER ON THE RELEASE BUTTON. As the motor turns over you will see the needle bounce up, once every revolution. if it moves
3 times in a row and around 70-90 psi the engine is fine.
This will have to be done to the rear rotor housing as well
If the needle is low on one of 3 cycles a side seal is stuck in the rotor or is broken(if this is the case pour 50 ml of oil in the spark plug hole
and try starting)
this will help seal any stuck seals and hopfully free them up.
if the needle is low in 2 of the cycles out of the 3 this might mean that apex seals or corner seals are broken(time for rebuild)
if there is no starter motor you can turn it over by hand and use your thumb to feel compression once every revolution again.
with cost would be the same if you have the ecu
and loom
good luck with the engine and its dirt cheap

Mmmmm, where do i start. Well our garage has a 20b engine apart, a porsche gearbox apart, a 010 auto box apart, TMI carpets and head lining all to go
back
into our cars before valla. Aarons been working very hard to make this happen and will start working on the interior this weekend.
I'll post pictures of the mods Aarons done to the gearbox soon.

Hey Bec, good to hear you'll have a complete interior soon! I'm sure Aaron is a man on a mission as usual and I'm sure you're not far behind doing
the hard yards as well. Look forward to catching up at Valla!
Al
PS hopefully the shirts/cd arrived okay.
