outta time before i know it, back to the usual crazy work next week, time off was over too fast! no more bursts of productivity like that till...
xmas/nye IF i can squeeze it in around the various family things.
Vote 1 - DUB DAY! every week, solid dub work all you want, & perfect weather for being in the garage at the time too!

Looks like it sits quite low in there... helpful for intercoolers i guess!
Might need a polish though....
You still planning on running bumpers? There was a nice light metalic blue super with areo's at run to the sun... and IMO it looked better without
the bumpers..

Getting closer to rolling...
slightly concerning that the skinny wheel/tyre i have on it JUST fits, that said it is at full drop & pushed out on the control arm & should
squeeze inwards a wee bit when on the ground
Oh, & the rear as expected will probably end up looking like qik108 with the lumps, ill take a gearbox to thrash over not having to do that though
IF i get to play again on monday it should be all sorted out, better get the mounts finished asap!

sadly no, and im not ready for cage yet, need to fit everything else first!, oh does yours use the pan/body rubber or just bolted together? assuming
the cage is attached to the pan aswell it seems kinda redundant cos it wont come apart anytime soon
loooooong way off being done still but its
getting there, even the mother is appreciating it now

Yup - I've got the standard body rubber in there. Cage is welded into the body and then through bolted to the pan - means I can remove the body from
the pan just like normal.
I'll drive Jezzi on Wed night - bring a torch and you can have a good squiz if you like.
btw - man that front guard looks fat...

will see what i can do, but if you need to know right now, its VWCOOLS BIIG kit, rotors are BA falcon, calipers(not yet mounted) are vr-vs ish
commodore calipers, brackets are... chunky, hubs use stock bearings & seals, 5x114.3 stud pattern(plenty of different offset wheels in that
pattern) pics when im playing with it all again, hopefully tomorrow

So the rotors and calipers are "off the shelf"'
and the hubs and brackets are custom made items by VWCOOL?
So all ford wheels, studs and nuts?
Thanks dude.

Yeah yeah - anything to avoid a fine hey.
Can understand the motivation being lacking. Same issue here actually... plus the heat and V8's on tele ain't helping !!!
Lots of questions there DB - almost sound like you're researching/planning something... heh heh

yep all off the shelf, uses falcon rears so why not use the stud pattern the rotors came with? centerbore of stock falcon wheels matches the hubs
PERFECTLY too,
to install... peice of piss, standard bearings & seals, & a few extra, well bigger bolts, only thing thats not off the shelf is the hub,
caliper bracket, & the stock vw stub axle needs to be modified slightly(old caliper mounts machined off, backing plate drilled & tapped to
larger size)

& theres the caliper bracket
nice huh?
ball joint nut sits rather close to the 15x7 +6ET wheel, its enough to get a socket onto though so no huge drama
Thats the 17x8 +6ET wheels, theres about 2mm clearance at maximum outward position on both control arm & camber/caster top, can still drop 75mm on
the strut body in case anyone is curious
Sure glad i got the press in bushings from Brad(TOPLINE part) to flip the tie rod end upside down, not yet done as you can see(tie rod is about 20mm
from the body shell
Ooooooh! it moves, on its own wheels!!!!!!!! big weeks ahead id say...

surely did, the stock wheels would sit roughly where the first 2" or rubber is on these i think, i can measure to compare to yours if your curious
basically ive got bigger rubber without sacrificing turning circle

STIDUB- forever the people pleaser...
and again, is it just whos building the car or do other people appreciate the various stages you go through during the build?
this should help to determine track differences between various setups

Hi
I'd forgotten how close the bottom ball joint comes on some wheels, I put 15 inch cookies on my old 1302 when it was painted, the nut dug into the
wheel and stopped it turning.

oooooh yeah, very close, lucky theres a few different size nuts available if need be? (notice the difference between LH & RH) im tempted to throw
the higher offset (32-48ish) on just to show the difference in clearance, anything higher offset in a decent width 15" wouldnt fit looking at it,
that said the others i have in this pattern are 16's
any chance steve, joel, jak riz etc could post a pic up of the clearance between struts, controll arms & such, perhaps add info for wheel size
aswell....
