well yes and no, great that it's prig VW metal but at the same time it's ages by 40-50 yrs and that weakens metal. Still orig VW metal was made much
better than even most steels these days.
I like making stuff and the front heater channel parts with nelson hat threaded plate were fun. Way I made should see another 50 yrs thro

I hate Commodores and Falcons Feckin American crap!!!!
For the OP. Love the Kafer brace bar. Were'd you get it from? Personally I like the 5 bar set up as the shox towers get added strength from the 2
front links
POR 15 does come up nice and shiney aye? Did mine in KBS and the bottom was great but the top got solvent flash bubbles in it so it's rust proof but
not as smooth as the underside Still you see more of the underside than
under the carpets so it worked out well

Yea, I was mainly meaning owned by the Yanks but even if they were designed here they're still crap. GM and Ford lost their styling panash come the
mid-70's and only American GM and Ford found it again when they used the 60's shape of the Mustang and Camaro/Charger.
Holden need to use the 'E' and 'F' series cars to get some street cred back

and the gearbox is a mendeola sequential...
type 4? yeah sure, we have the 1800 type 4 sitting in the shed, its all done, dtm kit, dual dell's, yada yada...
this weekend should be crunch time. i will get some mates around and we can lift the chassis out of the shed, all the breaks should be done and the
1200 in, so it should be driving and then comes the sanding and
painting.. finally!

Keep positng pics to, love it.
A question regarding the por15. It looks like you brushed it on, and from memory the instructions tell you its self leveling, fair dinkum, can you see
brush marks?
cheers Chris

thanks mate in order to minimalise brush marks you have to get a patch
wet, then go over all of it in one direction. then dont touch it again. by the time it is semi solid, all the brush marks are gone. this stuff is
fantastic, but remember to get the thing spotless and make sure to do the full process, marine clean, metal ready, chassis black.
thanks mate, hope this helped.

Yup, same as the Oz version of POR15, that being KBS. feather brush strokes in one direction whilst still wet and you get a lovely smooth finish.
Loving this build

Looks fantastic bud! How good does that pan look?
Did you rebuild your pedal assembly or steering box?
Run your new clutch cable?
Any particular reason you decided to go POR15 over a 2pack black finish?

Great thread, my partner and I are in our early 20s and have both a 63 and 55oval bug,
We loved your build thread and are located in Northam WA.
We need 5 posts before we can private message, however we come down south often, would love to come say hi.
I have a perfect rust repaired early type bonnet. Been sitting for years, i would go look at it again, to consider its usage for my oval. However,
you're closer to the road with your oval than I at the moment, so if you're in need. Please feel free to let us know.
