between doing customer transmission rebuilds and preparing a bay window panel that I am doing up to sell , I have made a little more progress with the
circuit car .
I have finished the modifications to the muffler and also welded in the mountings to position it to where I wanted it . Next step to make the exhaust
pipe from the turbo and also fit the wastegate . The new air-water intercooler has been ordered and will be here next week .

thats the first comment on any of my posts that actaully made me laugh quite hard thanks PAZZAN thats just what I needed on a
friday arvo .... I could really imagine the turbo and the fan dueling for air ..... but the turbo will run a cold air intake hose from much further
forward .

yesterday the air-water intercooler kit arrived , aluminum mandrel bends for the intake pipes and the carter fuel pump which will be used as a lift
pump to supply fuel to the surge tank from the fuel cell .
Today I will mount the intercooler and heat exchanger and will make a start on the intake plumbing

a little more progress today . fitted the new reduction drive starter to check all clearances . also manufactured mounting brackets for the
intercooler and welded them in place . bolted the intercooler into its mounting brackets and now trying to work out where to run the intercooler pipes
.

I have that exact fuel system in my car -- -- That 100 micron filter goes between the tank and the pump --- I will highly recommend getting a 40
micron filter for after the pump -- I plugged a few injectors until I finally put one in -- I actually went with a huge 10 micron, but I believe a 40
the same size as your 100 would be enough.....

not much to report yet Craig ...
I have been very busy assisting Ben Ford with new supercharger system & engine build to get into the 9's down the strip .....
assisting Chris Bolton with fabricating new turbo system & bigger heads ( now in preparation for new engine build ) .....
preparing the WPVW sports sedan for this events guest driver .....
assisting Dean with fabricating a new turbo system & set-up to run low 11's down the strip in his streeter .....
just spent the past 2 weeks fabricating new turbo system & wiring on Cindys' rat-look bug .....
and now just starting on Craigs' VWMA formula vee engine rebuild .....
after I get through all of this , I will try to get my oval back together and then start back on the new circuit car ..... my appologies for the delay

thanks for the kind words Gary , however I would have to disagree ..... I do not consider myself to be in the same category as our true legends of VW
like Pete Keegan , Ross Freestone , Greg Mackie and Tony Thornton .....
what all these guys have done and achieved inspire me greatly , I am just a dude that loves to help others achieve their dreams and I spend many hours

Well !! after all those months of preparation on our cars for the VW drags , I finally have found some spare time to get back into the new circuit car
.
I have added 6 new aluminum support bars to the front body panel area (my aluminum welding is still crap , but improving) , positioned & mounted
the radiator for the intercooler

I have installed all of the internal body tin that insulates / protects me & my legs from the outside dangers , removed the single CNC brake pedal
assembly with dual master cylinders , then positioned the new pedal assembly to check clearances .
I find that the pedal assembly has to be offset to the left approx. 2" so that the accelerator pedal will fit .
I cut the pedal mounting out of the chassis & it is clearly evident that the brake pedal on the new pedal assembly is offset to the right side

I mount the new pedal assembly to the modified pedal mounting plate , tach weld it in position so that the brake reserviors are just 10mm from the
front firewall plate

sitting in the beetle , I can easliy operate the clutch & brake pedals with plenty of room to install a modified accelerator pedal . As the
chassis tapers to a narrower front , the accelerator pedal that came with the pedal assembly will have to be modified so that it does not strike the
side panel

I have also done more work in the rear of the beetle with modification of the internal sealing panels as a couple of them would no longer fit after I
had widened the chassis at the seating area

The new mounting brackets have arrived for the on-board air-jacks .
I then remove the front air-dam , front skirt assemblies so that I can gain access to the chassis area easily , to install the front air-jacks

I measure & position the air-jacks where I want them mounted , tach-weld the mounting plates to the chassis , remove the air-jacks & weld the
plates fully
Ben Ford & I applied 100psi of air pressure to the 2 front air-jacks after installation & the front tyres lifted 4" off the ground ......
very happy with that
