Is it on??? Yes or No....

Valla got my VW blood pumping again
After a few years out of (VW) action I flew from Far North Qld to Sydney to work ALL night on my brother's new project (peach bug) and then drove
straight up to Valla. I loved every minute (aside from the sore butt due to the low ride) and I can't wait to do it again.
Valla 2004 bring it on!!

keepin' the DISCUSSION goin'!
I though I might drop this comment from a past thread in to keep the discuusion on Judging going. If we don't discuss and debat topics how are
we going to improve the events/
I'm a real fan of the balls out car show and pleased to hear that many believe that have there place.
There will always be problems with judged shows like the Kombi problem at Valla (from memory the last Valla I attended in 1997(?) had a big increase
in Kombis so its up to the organisers to respond to these trends).
While on Valla wasn't the entry fee $20.00 per category?
I also think that the peoples choice is a good addition or even format for a casual show however having expert judges is necessary for the bigger
events. A point in case was the car of the day at Valla. Perhaps it was just me however I walked past this car several times as it did not appeal to
my taste in VWs. When it was awarded car of the day I took a closer look and then saw what the judges saw.
Do you think there is a risk of good cars being over looked at 'peoples choice' events or does the law of averages kick in?

You are probably correct with the peoples choice going to a different Car than what the judges would pick..... A Much modified car with a good paint
job will probably win regardless of what the engine is like..
My Son thought it was $45 at 2001 Valla.
But it seems that $40 was correct for 2003. Many people complained about the HIGH cost of entering the show, and now Donna is hoping it can be bought
down to an acceptable level so many more cars will enter next time... Lee

It's quite simple, just don't provide free accomodation for the judges.
Or alternatively, how do I go about becoming one of the judges?

LOL Kol
We'd better be nice here or it might not be on:o
From my experience of my first ever Valla it must be a pretty big organisational task and can see why it went to every two years
Have no idea who is involved in helping with it all?
Also getting council permission for the street parade. Maybe waiting for answers from others
The power of positive thought, lets all send good vibs up ion that direction:sandrine |

Judge for the next Valla-Nambucca...
KruzinKombi,
Send an email to Donna, nominating yourself to be a judge if required at the next VW Spectacular.
although I usually prefer to look at everything going on and whats for sale at the swap meet etc.... but if the need arises, I would be a judge.....
Now !! what makes a good VW??
Does it matter if the car has an Alternator or doghouse oil cooler on an early model Beetle?? 1600 in a 1200 or 1300 or 1500?
Let Me know what You guys think about these.....
I don't like normal things missing from a VW like the rubber seals around the interior door light switches... door straps etc...
How much wear & tear is allowable??
any COMMENTS APPRECIATED ... that isn't shouting, I pressed the Caps lock key accidently.... Lee

What qualifications do you need to judge?
Hmmm, and the group manning the entrance to Valla Park in their caravan looked like they were having a good time. Well they were always very cheery
and making the most of their post |
