Thanks Barls. She's a little gem.

Looks like you've been a busy boy. Does work stop when you come back to Sydney or does your Dad do a bit for you?

Hello everyone. Thanks for the technical suggestions up there people.

Speaking of being poor... I've been at Uni, on uncle John's surf team, for six years. Yearly, seven grand sounds like a lot of money to give someone just 'cause they're studying, but it's hard to survive on. The dole is heaps more!

Ever lived on seven grand a year before? Ya really need to work part time to have luxuries (like meat), but I did mega-hard sh*t at Uni and had little time during semester. Gotta work over summer, hard to save that way.

Still, I am grateful that we have a system in australia that still allows poor people to go to Uni (for now - I got a pamphlet the other day which seemed to say that it was going to be harder in the future, or you'd come out with a mega-debt. Mmm, hecs debt - I'm up to 30 grand!)

Foodwise, baked beans, pasta, and some green sh*t from the garden (that's what we call silverbeet, 'cause it's not silver but green, and grows like a weed!) is a great cheap dinner, and healthy too, and can be cooked in one saucepan which can be rinsed out and re-used for a week without a real wash (cook the beans IN THE TIN!). Cheese on top if ya want.

Any more questions about being poor, just shoot!:thumb

Mmm, going well. I've only got a few weeks of Uni left, it feels so weird! And that's why I'm here on a thursday night - doing that computer fluids modelling stuff again. Bleh!

I am also trying to think of how to best mount some extra lights (which I got for free) on the front of my bus.

Well, um. Yep. I know. At least for the next few months.

Gonna pack up everything, take it to my family's place in Adelaide, unload everything, then yeehaa, it off to the beach! I figure I can travel around for the whole summer, livin' in my bus, learning to surf, picking up hitchhikers and stuff. I reckon WA might be the go, I was going to go to northern queensland, but apparently there are baddies in the water and ya can't even swim in some places. Not sure if my leg's being pulled here, but I'm just not too keen on jellies. Besides, it'll rain all the time up north in the wet season, while south-west WA gets almost no rain over summer. Had enough rain and stuff last summer in SE australia (Sydney - south coast - far east gippy).

Whaddya reckon?

Oh yeah I have a bullbar, as of a few days ago it's back on the bus. I could just drill a few holes and whack a bolt through, that'd be easiest. What I can't figure out is how the PO had the lights attached. They were on teh bullbar I think, but I can't for the life of me see ANY marks of any kind where they'd have been. Mainly I need to decide on positioning. I tried to read the VicRoads vehicle standards info brochures or whatever they're called. The one on lighting is HUGE. Seems the lights need to be near but not outside the main headlights. Not above a certain height bla bla bla.

Yeah I thought the north would be better in Winter. I love the hot weather, and winter here just seems so long. Not that cold, not that wet, just so long.

yeah the winters down there sucked arse really bad from what i remember from the 2 i spent down there. from memory they are best around the same height as the lights but on the bullbar

The tyre on the bullbar restricts the positioning a little. I don't want to obstruct the standard lights, and can't put the new ones too close to the tyre.

Nah, I know how to do it now. She'll be right, I'll just say I bought it like that and it passed an independant roadworthy, and I got it from a dealer.;) Nah that's all true, just that the lights weren't on at the time.

Holy crikey, it's October already! I just saw it when I looked to see when barls posted the last post! October! WHOA, where has the year gone?

G'day all. I wouldn't worry too much barls, it's a fair way from SE Queensland (where ever Mt. Tamborine is?) to sydney. And further, bluna, that orange bay, won't exactly be breaking any speed records for the run right. Nothing against bluna, I love busses. I've got one too. I'm sure it's a great one wombat, but if she's got a kombi donk, well, I know how it is.

Actually it's been a lovely warm day here. Warm in the Melbourne sense, but nonetheless the sun has shone brightly all day. It's a lovely evening still, though cooling off somewhat uncomfortably since I'm in shorts and a tshirt.

Hey you know people always say that it rains in Melbourne, but I must point out that it's a rare day that we don't see the sun. We do get a few of those grey covered periods in Winter, but most of the time, it might rain for a bit, but then the sun comes out and it's nice again for a while.

It may rain often, but it's not a constant grey boring depressing ever-looming threatening intimidating better-bring-a-brolly kind of atmosphere.

Well, I guess that's it. Not seen nor heard of in three or four days! We'll miss our $2. Seems wombat's gone and gotten lost too. Ducky, our holiness, the first! Are't thou no longer watching over us? (Probably realised there were just one too many screws loose in here ... and ... buggered off!)

Just us now barls. Perhaps this post has slowly, painfully worn it's already overstretched link to the realistically plausible region of the universe down past the breaking point and now, not elderberries, not a holy hand grenade, not even the terrific trio (comprising zaphod beeblebrox and marvin) could hope, without being fully aware that their efforts were in vain, to maintain any semblance of usefullness (of the order of that usually associated with a towel) in the kind of things now discussed in here over a pan-galactic gargle blaster on table three in the restaurant at the end of the universe, although perhaps some lesser usefullness, far below the usefullness of also a stick, could be maintained in providing amusement for the masses, or for the few, or even just those who are the amusers.

... a big hello to all intelligent life forms everywhere. And to everyone else out there ... the secret is to bang the rocks together, guys.

Hahahaha!

I have a 2L donk that can manage 110+ (though I cruise no more than 90 usually). My fastest speed was 280kmh on the autobahn in Germany (a BMW, naturally NOT a Dub).

I seem to have gotten all that high speed junk out of my system tho'. Takin' it easy and smelling the roses is much more fun, and nobody expects anything from a kombi anyway (especially fun when I beat a ricer or Holden driver at the lights).

Anyway Barls, I don't really want to punch you, just brainwash you into pinko leftyism. I just cant believe anyone with half a brain would want to vote in the lying little shitebag again. Colour me dumbfounded!
