Went to micks yesterday and got some bits and pieces that i required. still have a long list - due to the fact that i want to lower the car at the
same time as I fix up the brakes. this may not happen though as i really need to drive it for work ect. the next item on my list is the master
cylinder. its one of those items that has a few people arguing over if it needs to be replaced or not. my theory is that if i do it alll at once, then
its all done and i dont have to pull stufff apart again.
anyway, this is what i go from micks.

intake stuff

rear hoses

magnetic drain plug.

Thanks Paul!
Not far to go with the braking, just need a new master cylinder, machine the discs, to paint a few bits and pieces, and then get it all together. then
this and that. need to get a better job though.... not earning enough to get ahead. bit lame.

is it over 2 litre?? I recon it would be sweet as a 1916 with twin spark, dtm fan, 44 IDF's. nice setup. one day.
for now though, just painting up a few more bits. Going to do the calipers Red, after my next pay. still need to take a bit more off the drums with
emery tape. and the discs are yet to be machined. &, I still need a new MC, but that looks like it will have to wait to after new year, when i
hopefully get a full time position.

Nvm. Answered my own question:

Pictured above is an example of what we are capable of with a Generation II MassIVe engine. This 2.9 lter engine features our proprietary twin spark
plug arrangement and produces 249 HP and is installed into Beth Raby's 1979 VW Beetle Convertible!! As a full daily driver, this engine has achieved
better than 30 MPG, even with monsterous 52mm IDA Weber carburetors!!!!

That pic is of the 2.9 but i went in it with a roller cammed 2270. 120ft.lb of torque at 1000 rpm is a nice experience.

Some shots of the carb re-kitting.
Dirty(ish) carb

bare mainifold

All the gaskets

it was a clean surface on the manifold and i cleaned the carb base, it seemed level enough.

Top main gasket

has 32 vents

Enrichment jigger

accel pump

Top cork gasket (for air cleaner)

The finished item, with intake boots and clamps on the manifold.

Now i just need an air cleaner...
WINGS!

The painted bits... rust is not my friend, so I'm preventing it!
Hadn't driven the car in 4 or 5 weeks.... and only had 9psi in the rears.

front caps!

rear seal kits!

just re-using the same bearings.

disc grease seal

more rust prevention - if its out and can be painted, do it. in black, not yellow, green, and pink.....

have all the hoses I need, just need a M/C now
nearly ready to go together, just need discs machined.

not an issue they have a spring which returns them back soon as theres no pressure ie cable pulling on the lever
just leave it be, or even hook up a choke cable if u have cold start probs in winter
