7-8more bits, about 10-15mm each... so... LOTS, otherwise known as sitting on the ground, or joel needs 22's & cycle guards

i guess that shot confirms the thought though, supers need 16" wheels if they are going to sit in that far

small note, i should mention ian botchers race parts in ipswich, they have anything from the usa & rocket industries, provided you know what you want, decent prices too,

Steve's probably the only one interested but ive got a clutch master cylinder to fit perfectly too, removable pushrod aswell so the stock beetle one can be modified to work with it, adding to the use of stock parts, works well for myself :)

lookout for updates after the weekend of the masters mounted with the body on & POSSIBLY lines loosely run to them just for clearance purposes :)

cant be arsed taking a pic, for those that are curious just search for "wilwood compact remote combination master cylinder kit" its not that exciting though.

Hi

Ive been working on it, I went to fit up my bugs@5speed sump, struck a problem, the sump interferes with with frame horns as Ive moved the box 100 forward, Westi is doing a modified sump for me now, I work shift work so I'm home a lot during the week etc if you want to pop in.

Still waiting on some axles from the US, I want to make sure everything done before I pull the body off, I may need to move my top shock mount to tilt the shock away from the axle.

I'm sure the German look people would like to see the clutch master fitted.

Hi

I'm aiming for Warwick, I'm still saving a little each week for paint, figure I will need around $6000 to get the ball rolling.

Colours, been stuck on black for a while, then Vermilion Fire, new ford falcon colour, don't know the name but its a blue green metallic like the colour on 76 Golfs.

ahh shift work, i love it, the bug@ sump doesnt work with stok mounts does it? im liking the red's on alot of newer cars lately, the dream is candy apple red / candy wine but the expense & risk of damage/need for touch ups on a track car is high so kinda makes it pointless, currently im liking the mazda cx7 red...

as the webmaster of clubveedub(vwdcq liked the girls with beer pics btw) surely you should be aiming for the nationals as a super is best on circuit than drag...?

Hi

I'm hoping to get the paint started in February or March next year, its just cash that's holding me up now and some final panel fitting, I don't want to get it painted and not have the money to finish it.

I was going to relocate the stock Subi mounts to fit the bugs@5speed sump anyway, but alas I wasn't meat to be.

I will take photos of my mounts when I get the sump back.

Hi

Thanks for the PM, Im on a new shift now, 16.00 to 24.00, couldn't get to sleep.

Have you looked into getting 911 headlights yet? I bought the ones for my 1302 from a guy in Sydney, hes asking silly money for the now, I found a place in the UK http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt70_187_-cma81-cmo107-ct333/Porsche/964--911--... where I will most likely buy them from, I've gone cold on the xenon system I had.

You don't want to fit early beetle headlights after all the trouble you've gone too.

Hey Steve, Is it possible to put upright headlights in the aero's? For me the headlights indicate the period of the car for some reason.

Warwick, sounds like a good aim, chances are mine wont be done by then. - And by done I mean remotely driveable, in terms of long distances. Depending on job situations I sadly may end up with a run about with powersteering and aircon... :( Colonel will not be sold off though, maybe just stored in a garage for a while, we shall see.

Paint- I think black is cool, have you seen that 68 (its in america) its german look and all hi-tech (turbo etc.) From what I know of you though, unique is the key..

Dave, what sump setup are you going for??

Hi

No, you can only use Early Beetle or Porsche headlights, the early beetle ones have Herman Munster screw to hold them on.

The 911 headlight glass is fairly upright anyway.

Below is one of my favorite GLs in black and a another in orange

Minus the 1 piece windows.... hehe

Is the orange one the topline car/the car they use to advertise their products? - I live how it has a rake, but the gaps are the same front and rear. Good looking car, and from how dave's car presents, I'm sure your project, when finished is going to...... well, I will wear shoes over my socks. :)

All I can say, is that my car is going to look more and more like the wrecker racer everytime i look at it... If you sneak around to the 2nd page of my thread you may find some details of what im thinking of doing, - short or long term? only employment will tell.

Jak, im liking that idea, met paul L (1303) when he first advertised his a year or so ago when i was there, his work is just around the corner from the outlaws work, rather convenient if i do say so myself :)

Steve yes 911 headlights are on the shopping list still, the earlys were a for now thing & yes those screws make it look like shit

Jason, about the sump, theres 1000 things in my head that may or may not work, im sure ill end up with something interesting regardless, just needs some time to play with things - id kill for that week off all over again, it was awesome!

On the note of one peice windows, after looking at sides' cage, 1/4 glass is somewhat pointless but im yet to find a one peice window that actually looks good close up & seals around the corner at the windscreen, does anyone know anything otherwise?

Steve, we have very similar taste in GL's :tu:

Dude - why do you care about quarter glass not being usable... you're going to have air conditioning, remember !?!?!

I've always wondered... I thought split's had one piece windows, so sure there must be a way of making it seal reasonably well....

btw - am I the only one who digs the silver New Beetle in the background of Steve's first GL pic ???

no, i dont mind the angry looking NB either, but like you said on wed, it would cost as much as a 911 to make a NB how you want so just go get an 911, less ridicule from the friends that way too

splits yes, & the glass had a cutout on the front edge, the seals stopped short too i believe, same story

Yeah yeah i know ill have ac but i like windows that are useful! and unlike some i consider door seals & such as standard equipment, not optional accessories :P

I reckon one piece power windows would be sweet as, or even if you did some major work and made the quater window part into part of the door and mounted some newer model mirrors there.
